
'Cats Announce Addition of All-American Claudio Fuentealba Escala to 2025 Roster

Grad student transfer was a two-time SAC Goalkeeper of the Year
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced the signing of graduate student goalkeeper Claudio Fuentealba Escala (Rancagua, Chile). Fuentealba Escala earned 2024 All-America accolades at Mid-America Christian University.
"Claudio is the two-time Goalkeeper of the Year in the SAC and was a Second Team All-American for one of the best NAIA programs in the country, Mid-America Christian University," said head coach Rich Weinrebe. "He comes to us with experience playing in national tournament games, a championship pedigree and a skill set that will push everyone in our goalkeeping core each day. He has tremendous ability with the ball at his feet, strong command of the position, a great work ethic and high character. We are excited to welcome Claudio to the UNH family!"
Fuentealba Escala spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he was selected to the NCCAA All-America Second Team in 2024. He also earned SAC Goalkeeper of the Year accolades twice and was named to the All-SAC First Team twice. As a junior in 2023, he received All-Central Region First Team honors as he led the team to the SAC regular season and tournament titles.
Prior to his time at Mid-America Christian University, he played for two seasons at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, Ind. He appeared in 18 games with 16 starts during the 2022 season and led the team to the tournament semifinal for the first time in program history. As a freshman he played in 14 games with 13 starts.
Fuentealba Escala was a member of Ohiggins de Rancagua from 2014-20 where he was a team captain in 2019-20. He graduated high school from Instituto Ingles de Rancagua in 2019 and was a member of the varsity soccer team from 2014-19 and was a team captain every season. He also won the team's Athlete of the Year Award every season.
