DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced the signing of graduate student goalkeeper Roark Looney (Boise, Idaho). Looney, who is a transfer from Westminster University, will join the team this spring.
"We are excited to add an experienced player like Roark to our goalkeeping core," said head coach Rich Weinrebe. "He excelled at Westminster University, playing in over 30 games for the Griffins and garnering a .728 save percentage, while earning RMAC Honorable mention honors in 2023. He has strong character, great athletic tools and a drive to push himself in a new environment, which will help bolster our group of goalkeepers and drive the level of our team forward."
Looney was a member of the Westminster men's soccer team from 2021-2024. He was a team captain as a senior in 2024. Looney appeared in 32 career games with 31 starts as he recorded a .728 save percentage and a 1.44 goals against average. In 2023, he recorded a 1.28 goals against average and a .729 save percentage as he received RMAC Honorable Mention accolades. Looney tallied a career-high save total of 12 versus CSU Monterey Bay in a 1-1 tie during the 2024 season.
He graduated from Renaissance High School in 2021 and played for the Boise Timbers from 2010-2021 where he was a team captain from 2016-2021.
The Wildcats concluded the season with a 7-3-7 overall record and a 4-1-2 mark in the conference. UNH won its sixth straight regular season championship. This was the first time in conference history that a team has won six straight.
The 2025 spring season schedule will be announced at a later date.
