Simakan won a national championship with Iowa Western in 2024
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced the signing of junior back Boubacar Simakan (Montreal, Quebec).
"Boubacar joins us after two successful seasons at Iowa Western Community College, where he played a key role in securing a national championship in his most recent season," said head coach Rich Weinrebe. "He joins a long line of Reivers coming to UNH who have thrived in Durham, and we have high expectations for Bouba's impact in our group. As a 6' 3" center back he has a commanding presence in and out of possession which will allow him to excel here at UNH. We are confident he will make a strong and immediate impact on our team."
Simakan played two seasons at Iowa Western where he earned 2024 United Soccer Coaches All-American accolades as the team won the NJCAA National Championship and went undefeated with a 22-0-3 record. During the 2024 season he posted four goals and one assist for nine points. He led a defense that only allowed 21 goals as the team outscored the opposition 109-21.
Prior to his time at Iowa Western, Simakan played five seasons for Federation de Soccer Salaberry. He was a captain in 2017 and 2018, while he was the team MVP in 2017.
Simakan graduated high school from Ecole Secondaire Evangeline in 2022.
