Cash and Miyata each score for the Wildcats
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore midfielder Reed Cash (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and junior midfielder Ryo Miyata (Yokohama, Japan) each scored for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Yale, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Reese Stadium.
Graduate student Claudio Fuentealba (Rancagua, Chile) and senior Scott Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio) combined for the shutout.
The Wildcats, who have won two straight, improve to 2-4-3, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The 'Cats almost took an early lead in the 19th minute when freshman forward Xahvi DeRoza (Warwick, Bermuda) blasted a shot from 20 yards out that ricocheted off the top of the woodwork.
- But just 1:54 later, Cash scored on a rebound off a shot by graduate student midfielder Matteo Brossel (Toulon, France) in the 23rd minute (22:14) to give Cash his first collegiate goal. Freshman back Boubacar Simakan (Montreal, Quebec) also recorded an assist on the goal.
- Fuentealba made a save with his foot on a shot by Simon Adjakple in the 26th minute to keep Yale off the scoreboard.
- The Wildcats extended their lead to 2-0 in the 68th minute (67:50) when Miyata fired a free kick from 18 yards out to the upper right corner of the net for his first goal of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot Yale, 15-4, while the Wildcats posted six shots on goal and the Bulldogs attempted three.
- The Wildcats took five corner kicks and the Bulldogs posted one.
- Fuentealba made two saves for UNH in the first half, while Williams posted one during the second half. Conrad Lee tallied four saves.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Wildcats are now 4-0-1 all-time versus Yale.
- The goal by Cash was the first of his collegiate career.
- The assist by Simakan was his first collegiate point.
