The Matchup

UNH has an 11-11 lifetime record against Albany, but the Great Danes have won each of the past 10 meetings.

Trailing 8-5 with seven minutes remaining, UNH rallied to tie the score with 53 seconds to play. The Great Danes regained the lead on a free-position goal with 18 seconds on the clock. The 'Cats won the ensuing draw control but their shot in the waning seconds was stopped by goalie Erin Leghart.
New Hampshire's eight goals last year marked the Wildcats' most goals vs. the Great Danes since 2012; Albany also prevailed 9-8 that year.
UNH's most recent win was in a 2009 America East semifinal (17-9). The Wildcats' most recent home win in this series was April 2008 (17-7).
These teams have met annually since the Great Danes joined America East in 2001.

The UNH women's lax program will pay tribute to the seven-member Class of 2018 following the conclusion of Saturday's game vs. Albany, which will mark the last home game for seniors Kate Clancy, Krissy Schafer, Rebecca Sennott, Cat Sennott, Lizzie Suschana, Ashley Watson and Carly Wooters.

Carly Wooters has 97 career points (80g, 17a). Wooters ranks second among active 'Cats in goals and points, and third in assists.

National Numbers

New Hampshire enters the week ranked No. 9 in the nation in ground balls per game (22.21).
- The Wildcats had entered last week No. 16 in scoring defense (9.25 gpg) and is now 32^nd (10.50 gpg).
UNH has also committed the third fewest fouls per game (12.43).

Top 'Cats

UNH's top point producers are senior attack Krissy Schafer (37) and senior midfielder Carly Wooters (36). Wooters surpassed Schafer following her five-point effort at Boston University (April 11), but Schafer climbed back to the top the next game at Stony Brook (April 15).
Schafer (37) and Wooters (31) are also the top goal scorers.
Senior attacker Teagan Northrup has a team-high 13 assists. She is followed by senior midfielder Rebecca Sennott (11) and freshman attack Julia Neyland (nine).
Senior defender Cat Sennott ranks first in both ground balls (42) and caused turnovers (23).
Senior captain Lizzie Suschana ranks second in both GB (33) and CTO (18).
Wooters and Rebecca Sennott rank 1-2 in draw controls with 47 and 44, respectively. Neyland is next with 15.
Wooters has a team-high 92 shots, followed by Schafer with 74. Next on the list is Neyland with 40.
Schafer has scored 37 goals on 74 shots for a team-high .500 shooting percentage.

Last Line of Defense

Senior goalkeeper Kate Clancy has started all 64 games the past four years and no other goalie saw action in 2017. Sophomore goalie Amanda Gottlieb has come off the bench in 10 of 14 games this season.
In consecutive games against Dartmouth College and Central Connecticut State University (Feb. 21 & 24), the tandem saw even playing time with Clancy playing the first half and Gottlieb the second.
That pattern was short-lived, however, as Clancy played all 60 minutes Feb. 28 vs. UConn and made a season-high 12 saves. The platoon system returned the next game vs. Fairfield, but that was it.
In 14 games (577:59 of action), Clancy has stopped 73 of 181 shots on goal for a .403 save percentage; she has a 6-7 record and 11.21 GAA. She is fifth on the team in ground balls with 22.
Clancy has recorded double-digit saves twice this season – 12 vs. UConn and 10 at Hofstra.
Gottlieb has an 8.18 GAA and .444 save percentage in 10 games. She played a career-high 46:12 last Sunday at top-ranked Stony Brook and stopped 5 of 17 shots on goal; she also recorded a personal-best five ground balls for the second consecutive game.
Gottlieb made her collegiate debut Feb. 17 at Harvard University when she entered the second half with 13:29 remaining. She made one save and surrendered three goals.
Gottlieb stopped 4 of 7 shots on goal at Dartmouth, then recorded two saves with two goals allowed vs. CCSU. She entered the March 3 game vs. Fairfield at halftime, stopped 5 of 10 shots on goal but was charged with the loss (her first decision).
She played 38:38 and stopped all three shots on goal to combine with Clancy for the shutout of Hartford on March 31.

Streaking

The longest active point streak is 12 games by Krissy Schafer, who has 32 points, all on goals, during the streak.
Schafer has a concurrent 12-game goal-scoring streak, and she has scored a goal in 13 of 14 games this season.
Teagan Northrup has a six-game point streak with 13 points (4g, 9a). Northrup has a point in 11 of 14 games this season.
Julia Neyland has a five-game goal- and point-streak; she has recorded 11 goals and two assists for 13 points in that span. Neyland has tallied a point in 11 of 14 games overall.
Caroline Hernon has a three-game point streak with four points (1g, 3a); she tallied her first career multiple-assist game with two at Boston U. on Wednesday, April 11.
Carly Wooters had a 10-game goal/point streak end last Sunday at Stony Brook. She tallied 33 points (29g, 4a) in that 10 games. Wooters has tallied a goal/point in 11 of 14 games overall.

Sennott Sisters Shine

Cat Sennott anchors UNH's defensive unit with team highs in ground balls (42) and caused turnovers (23). She has recorded multiple ground balls 11 of 14 games with a career-high seven at Harvard, six vs. CCSU and five at Hartford.
Cat has been credited with multiple caused turnovers 6 of 14 games with a personal-best five CTO against CCSU and four at Harvard.
Cat has led the team in ground balls in 6 of 14 games.
Rebecca Sennott ranks second in draw controls (44), including a career high of six both at Harvard and at Hofstra, five vs. Monmouth and four against Sacred Heart. Rebecca has multiple DCs in 12 of 13 games.
She matched her personal best of two goals twice this season, including in a career-high three-point effort at Hofstra (March 29). She had a career-high three assists vs. Vermont (April 7).
Rebecca has a point in 9 of 14 games; she recorded a goal and three assists last Sunday at top-ranked Stony Brook to match her personal best in both assists and points (four).
She has also been credited with a caused turnover in 7 of 14 games, including three vs. Fairfield (tied her career high).

Triple Doubles

Carly Wooters is the only Wildcat who has recorded double digits in ground balls (23), draw controls (47) and caused turnovers (14). Wooters, in fact, has a quadruple double with 31 goals.
Rebecca Sennott is also close to a triple double with 44 DCs, 15 GBs and 9 CTOs.

Double Doubles

Cat Sennott, Lizzie Suschana and Michele Smith are three 'Cats who have recorded double digits in both ground balls and caused turnovers.
Sennott has 44 GBs & 23 CTOs. Suschana's numbers are 33 GBs & 18 CTOs, and Smith has 18 GBS & 10 CTOs.

Schafer Reaches Two Century Milestones

Senior attack Krissy Schafer scored her 100^th career goal with her lone goal Wednesday, April 11^th at Boston University.
Schafer recorded her 100^th career point with the second of her five goals April 7 against Vermont.
She entered that game with 98 points and inched closer to the milestone by scoring the first goal at 28:27. Schafer then reached the century mark when she gave UNH a 3-1 lead at 26:15.

The State of New Hampshire

UNH, led by sixth-year head coach Sarah Albrecht, went 0-2 last week with road losses to Boston University (16-13; April 11) and No. 1 Stony Brook (20-6; April 15).
Prior to that, the Wildcats had won three consecutive games in which they outscored the opposition 48-11 with a 112-37 shot advantage. We also had the edge in ground balls (91-47), draw controls (38-28) and turnovers (54-80).
There has been a lot of stability in the UNH starting lineup with eight players starting all 14 games; one has started 13 of 14, one other has been in the starting lineup 12 times and two more in 11 of 14.
UNH is scoring 10.36 goals per game and allowing 10.50 gpg with a 28.8 to 24.4 shots per game advantage.
Eleven of UNH's 14 games have been decided by six or more goals.

Strong Start in Conference Play

UNH improved to 4-0 in America East with a 17-6 win vs. Vermont at Bremner Field on April 7.
It wasn't that long ago – 2016 – the Wildcats also started 3-0 in conference play. Prior to that, the last 3-0 start in America East was 2010.
The previous time UNH started 4-0 in conference play was in 2006; one year earlier, the 'Cats were 5-0; and in '04, we went unbeaten (6-0) in AE.

Defensive Lockdown

In the six wins, UNH has allowed a total of 26 goals (4.33 gpg).

Getting Trendy

New Hampshire has a 5-2 record on Saturday.
The Wildcats are 6-1 when scoring the first goal, as well as 5-1 when leading at halftime.
UNH is 6-2 when outshooting the opponent; the 'Cats are 5-2 when winning the battle for draw controls.

Race to 10

The Wildcats are 6-1 when scoring double digits, and they are 6-0 when holding the opponent to single figures.
The April 11 game at Boston U. is the only time this season that both UNH and the opponent scored in double figures.

Possessing the Ball

UNH has recorded the edge in ground balls in 12 of 14 games. Overall, the 'Cats have a 311-228 edge in ground balls.
UNH has recorded the edge in draw controls half of the 14 games, but the opposition has controlled more draws overall, 174-139. In two games last week, the opposition had a 48-11 edge in that stat (including 25-3 by Stony Brook).

In the March 24 game at UMBC, the Wildcats converted 5 of 10 free position shots to mark the highest shooting percentage.
The 'Cats scored a season-high six free-position goals (on 14 shots) at Hartford on March 31.
In two games last week, UNH scored on 4 of 12 free position shots (33%); the opposition scored on 8 of 16 (50%).

Shoot to Score

The 'Cats have scored 145 goals on 403 shots for a .360 shooting percentage; New Hampshire recorded a season-high .472 shooting percentage (17g/36shots) against Vermont.
UNH also had a shooting percentage higher than 40% against CCSU (13-29; 44.8%) UMass Lowell (14-33; 43.8%) and Fairfield (9-22; 40.9%).
In comparison, the opponents have a .431 shooting percentage with 147 goals on 341 shots.
Also of note, UNH has fired 72.0% (290 of 403) of its shots on goal on target and the opponent is at 72.7% (248-for-341).

37 Goals for 21

Krissy Schafer's 37 goals is the highest total in a season by a Wildcat since 2014, when Laura Puccia had 41 tallies. In 2013, Jenny Simpson finished with 42 goals.

The April 7 game vs. Vermont was dedicated to One Love Foundation. One Love's goal is to end relationship violence by educating, empowering and activating young people in a movement for social change. Scouting the Great Danes

The University at Albany (Albany, N.Y.) has a 7-7 overall record that includes 5-0 in America East and 3-2 on the road (2-0 in conference road games).
The Great Danes have won seven consecutive games after starting the season 0-7.

Albany is averaging 11.71 goals and 27.3 shots per game while yielding 11.07 goals and 27.6 shots per game.
Freshman midfielder Kendra Harbinger leads the team in both goals (36) and draw controls (46), and ranks second in points (42).
Senior attack Emma Powlin has a team-high 48 points and ranks second in both goals (35) and assists (13).
Sophomore midfielder Sam Tortora is Albany's leader in assists (20); she also has 17 goals to rank third in points (37).
Junior midfielder Kaylee Rickert has 29 points (20g, 9a) and a team-high 44 ground balls.
Sophomore goalie Erin Leghart has started all 14 games and is 7-7 with an 11.16 GAA and .439 save percentage. She is No. 2 on the team in ground balls (32).

In a matchup of two 4-0 teams in America East, Stony Brook scored seven consecutive goals to build an 8-1 lead in the first half and then began the second half on a 9-0 run to pull away for a 20-6 victory April 15 at LaValle Stadium. • Recap • Box
Rebecca Sennott matched her career highs in assists (three) and points (four).
Amanda Gottlieb played a career-high 46 minutes, 12 seconds and matched her personal bests in both saves (five) and ground balls (five).

Second-Half Comeback Falls Short at Boston U.

UNH outscored Boston University 7-4 in the second half, but the comeback bid fell short in a 16-13 loss at Nickerson Field on April 11. • Recap • Box
Trailing 14-7 with 22 minutes remaining in regulation, the Wildcats went on a 6-1 run to close within 15-13 at 3:06.
BU was whistled for a yellow card at 1:51, but the 'Cats immediately turned the ball over on a false start and then pulled goalie Amanda Gottlieb in favor of an extra field player.
UNH got possession back with 45 seconds remaining and advanced the ball to the attack zone, but then committed a turnover and BU scored into the empty net with 16 seconds left to secure the win.
Julia Neyland scored five goals to mark personal bests in both goals and points.
Carly Wooters also scored five goals. She was also credited with two ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Wooters fired 14 of the team's 36 shots.
Krissy Schafer netted one goal, the 100^th of her career, at 17:20 of the second half.
Amanda Gottlieb played 35:33 in relief and stopped 5 of 10 shots on goal; she also finished with a team- and career-high five ground balls.

UNH Prevails in Battle of the 'Cats

'Cats Cruise Past UMass Lowell

UNH Rolls Past Hartford

New Hampshire scored 40 seconds into the game and rolled to a 12-0 lead en route to a 17-0 victory March 31 at Hartford.
UNH recorded sizable advantages in shots (44-4), ground balls (45-24), draw controls (14-5) and turnovers (18-28).
The Wildcats recorded season highs in goals, assists (eight), points (25), shots and ground balls.
The eight assists were the most by the 'Cats since 11 vs. UMass Lowell on March 26, 2016. The 25 also marked the highest total since that game (27).
Carly Wooters matched her career highs in both goals and points with four goals.
Michele Smith scored a career-high three goals.
Teagan Northrup finished with a personal-best three assists, and the three points matched her career high.

UNH Rallies Past UMBC in Conference Opener

Freshman midfielder Elizabeth Blanding scored a career-high four goals, including the last two goals of the game, to lift New Hampshire to an 11-9 win at UMBC last Saturday (March 24). Recap • Box Score
Trailing 9-8 with five minutes remaining, the Wildcats closed the game on a 3-0 run to rally for the victory.
On a free position from the top of the fan, Carly Wooters ripped a shot inside the right post to tie the score, 9-9, at 4:57.
Blanding gave UNH its third lead of the game, 10-9, at 3:20 when she charged from 12 meters on the left wing and blasted a shot under the crossbar.
Blanding split a pair of defenders low on the left side to advance to the top of the crease, where she sidearmed a shot inside the right post for an 11-9 lead with 56 seconds remaining.

Hawks Soar Past 'Cats

Monmouth University closed the game on a 5-0 run to record a 10-8 victory at Bremner Field on March 12. [the game was moved up from March 13 because of the impending nor'easter storm] • Recap • Box
UNH led 6-3 at halftime with a 23-8 shot advantage.
Monmouth outscored the Wildcats 7-2 in the second half with a 14-8 edge in shots. The Hawks trailed 8-5 with 13 minutes to play, leveled the score at 6:27, took their first lead of the game at 2:59 and capped the scoring at 1:01.

Fairfield Fights Past New Hampshire

With the score tied 9-9 midway through the second half, Fairfield closed the game on a 6-0 run to record a 15-9 victory at Bremner Field on March 3.
The last three goals in the final 92 seconds of the game were scored into an empty net as UNH pulled its goalie in favor of an extra field player.
The Wildcats fell behind 2-0 and never led in the game.

UConn Wins Battle of 'Cats vs. Dogs

Leading 8-6 at halftime, the UConn Huskies opened the second half on a 4-0 run and pulled away to record a 16-8 victory against UNH at Bremner Field on Wednesday (Feb. 28). Recap • Box
UConn finished with significant advantages in both shots (39-24) and draw controls (17-6); the Huskies also committed fewer turnovers (21-24). UNH had a 19-14 advantage in ground balls.
Kate Clancy recorded seven of her season-high 12 saves in the first half.
Carly Wooters and Krissy Schafer led the offense with three goals apiece.

UNH pulls away from CCSU

In the first ever meeting between New Hampshire and Central Connecticut State, UNH broke a 1-1 tie with three consecutive goals and led the rest of the way. The Wildcats ended the game with a 6-0 run the last 17 minutes to pull away for the 13-4 victory Feb. 24 at Bremner Field. Recap • Box
Krissy Schafer (4g) and Carly Wooters (3g, 1a) led a balanced attack with four points apiece. Schafer scored half of UNH's six first-half goals.
Teagan Northrup and Julia Neyland both tallied a goal and two assists. Neyland's 2a and 3p are both career highs. Northrup's three points marked a personal best and the two assists equaled her high.

UNH Derailed by Dartmouth

The Big Green led 10-0 at halftime and extended the lead to 11 goals before Krissy Schafer scored at 16:15 of the second half.
Freshman attacker Sabrina Grovom recorded her first collegiate point with an assist on that goal.

'Cats Declawed by Crimson

Harvard University scored seven consecutive goals spanning 23 minutes in the second half to record a 14-5 victory at Jordan Field (Feb. 17).

The Crimson built a 6-1 lead at 12:06 of the first half, but New Hampshire closed within 7-3 and struck first in the second half to trim the deficit to 7-4.
Harvard answered 16 seconds later, however, and gradually pulled away.
Anna Vogt scored three goals to match her career high that she established in the season opener vs. Sacred Heart.

'Cats Coast Past Pioneers

New Hampshire scored the first four goals of the game and seized control of the game with a 9-0 run (that overlapped the first and second halves) to record a 14-2 victory against Sacred Heart in the 2018 season opener at Bremner Field. Box | Recap
