Schafer Records 100th Career Point in 17-6 Win vs. UVM

DURHAM, N.H. – Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass) scored five goals and recorded her 100th point to propel the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Saturday night's 17-6 victory against the University of Vermont at Bremner Field.
Schafer entered the game with 98 career points and reached the century milestone with her second goal of the game at 26:15 of the first half. She matched her career highs in both goals (five) and points (five) to increase her career totals to 99 goals and 103 points.
Rebecca Sennott (Westford, Mass.) tallied a career-high three assists and scored a a goal for a personal-best four points. Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) scored a career-high three goals and also had an assist for a personal best of four points.
Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Michele Smith (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) each scored two goals for the Wildcats. Wooters also recorded a game-high five draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Sexton collected four GBs.
UNH starting goalie Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) finished with six saves and exited the game with New Hampshire leading 14-5 at 20:01 of the second half. Amanda Gottlieb (Canton, Conn.) was credited with one save and yielded one goal.
Vermont was led offensively by Jenna Janes (four goals, one assist). She also corralled four draw controls. Maddy Kuras made 10 saves and also went to the sidelines at 20:01 of the second half. Catherine Green stopped 3 of 6 shots on goal the rest of the way.
UNH won its third consecutive game to improve to 6-6 overall and 4-0 in America East. Vermont is now 4-9, 0-4.

THE DIFFERENCE
- Leading 5-4 midway through the first half, UNH scored nine consecutive goals to build a double-digit lead, 14-4, with 23:48 remaining.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schafer gave New Hampshire an early 1-0 lead with the first of her five goals at 28:27.
- Twenty-five seconds later, UVM's Bailey Saneman converted Janes' pass into a goal and a 1-1 tie.
- Wooters and Schafer scored 30 seconds apart – at 26:45 and 26:15 – to give the home 'Cats a 3-1 lead. Schafer's goal was her 100th career point.
- The Catamounts rallied to tie the score, 3-3, on goals by Janes (at 23:30) and Elise Koehl (22:11).
- Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N..Y.) put UNH back in front, 4-3, 47 seconds later and the visitors never pulled even the rest of the way.
- Sennott finished a feed from Northrup to extend the lead to 5-3 at 16:23.
- Janes netted her 20th goal of the season to trim the deficit to 5-4 at 14:51.
- Northrup's unassisted goal reestablished a two-goal lead of 6-4 at 13:45 and ignited UNH's 9-0 run.
- Schafer scored her 32nd goal of the year, and seventh of the game for the Wildcats at 10:12.
- Sexton's unassisted goal made the lead 8-4, Wildcats, at 8:23.
- Neither team scored for more than six minutes until Schafer netted her fourth of the game at 1:59 to send UNH into the half with a 9-4 cushion.
- The Wildcats scored three quick goals in the second half to push the margin to 12-4. Sennott, who had set up Schafer's last goal of the first half, also assisted on the opening goal of the second half by Smith at 29:00. Neyland scored an unassisted goal at 28:18 and Smith struck again, this time off a feed by Caroline Hernon (Hampton, N.H.) at 27:37.
- Another unassisted goal by Neyland at 25:08 was followed by Wooters' 26th goal of the year at 23:48 to extend the lead to 14-4.
- Janes scored back-to-back goals at 20:01 and 16:27 to narrow the gap to 14-6.
- Neyland responded with her third goal of the night 36 seconds later and Schafer netted her 99th career goal at 8:08 to reestablish a double-digit lead of 16-6.
- Sexton capped the game scoring at 4:05.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Schafer extended her goal and point streaks to 10 games; she has 29 points, all on goals, during the streak. She has scored a goal in 11 of 12 games overall this season.
- Wooters extended her goal and point streaks to nine games; she has 24 goals and four assists for 28 points in that time.
- Wooters has 75 career goals and 92 career points.
- Sexton has a goal in seven consecutive games (8g, 4a).
