Libby Boland Nets Four as 'Cats Fall to UConn

STORRS, Conn. — The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to the University of Connecticut (6-8, 2-3 Big East) on Tuesday afternoon (April 14) at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, dropping a 20-7 decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1Q
-New Hampshire found the lead at the 13:08 mark when Anna Lombardi (Barrington, R.I.) rifled a pass to Libby Boland (Victor, N.Y.) on the doorstep, who finished with a shot to take the 1-0 lead.
-UConn's offense responded with strikes at 8:00 and 7:26 to take a quick 2-1 edge.
-The Huskies extended their lead with a Lucia Smigiel goal at 5:20.

-Connecticut extended the lead at 13:18 to make it 4-1.
-UConn found the back of the net with goals at 3:29 and 1:46 to take a 6-1 lead.
-The Wildcats got one back with 41 seconds to go, when Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) found Boland in front of the net, where the sophomore fired the ball home for her second score of the game.
-UConn extended the lead 11 seconds later on a free position try to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.

-The Huskies' offense extended their lead with four goals in the opening five minutes for an 11-2 edge.
-Libby Boland connected with 9:57 to play for her third of the game, taking a feed from Rose Pavuk (York, Maine) to cut the deficit to 11-3.
-UConn found the back of the net four more times in a 3:20 span, taking a 15-3 lead.
-The Wildcats cut back into the lead on a strike from Makayla Keys (Fairport, N.Y.) on the man-advantage to make it 15-4.
