Makayla Keys Nets Hat Trick as 'Cats Fall to Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. — The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to Stonehill College (3-3, 0-0 NEC) on Wednesday afternoon (March 4) at W.B. Mason Stadium, dropping a 14-8 decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1Q
-The Skyhawks broke onto the scoreboard quick, with two goals in the first 1:16 to give Stonehill the early 2-0 edge.
-New Hampshire found their first score of the game with 10:44 to play, as Kate O'Rourke (Franklin, Mass.) fed Makayla Keys (Fairport, N.Y.) the ball in the front of the net, before the junior fired past Nina Tremonte to make it 2-1.
-Just under three minutes later, the 'Cats tied things up at 2-2 when Keys beat Tremonte for her second goal of the quarter.
-The Skyhawks responded three more times, with goals at 7:18, 1:49, and 1:09 putting Stonehill ahead 5-2 entering the second quarter.

-New Hampshire netted the first goal of the quarter with 12:37 to play when Charlize Collins (Burlington, Mass.) worked her way through the defense, striking on net to make it 5-3.
-The Skyhawks regained the three-goal edge with a Natalie Coutu goal at 8:42.
-The Wildcats clawed back to a two-goal deficit with 6:10 remaining, when Makayla Keys fed Libby Boland (Victor, N.Y.) in front for her first goal of the game.
-New Hampshire trimmed the lead to a single goal just under three minutes later when Makayla Keys took a turnover in the middle of the field before breaking away to the net, beating Tremonte to secure her first half hat trick.

-New Hampshire got one back with 7:59 to play, when Libby Boland beat Tremonte with a strike up front, making it an 8-6 contest.

-New Hampshire got one back with 6:57 to play in the final frame, when Rose Pavuk (York, Maine) forced a turnover in the Skyhawks' zone before rifling on net to make it an 11-7 score.

-With 59 seconds remaining, Rose Pavuk picked up her second score of the quarter, bringing about the 14-8 final.
