UNH Falls to UConn 16-8

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior midfielder Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) and senior attacker Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) each tallied three goals, but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to UConn 16-8 at Bremner Field Wednesday afternoon.
The goals were Schafer's team-leading 12th, 13th and 14th goals of the season, while Wooters tallied her sixth, seventh, and eighth goals on the season, giving her the second-most goals on the team this season.
UNH's other two goals were scored by Rebecca Sennott (Westford, Mass.) scoring her fourth goal of the season, and Michele Smith (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) made 12 saves in the contest, playing both halves. Her record falls to 2-3 with the loss.
UConn's Grace Nolan lead the Huskies with five goals and four assists for a game-high nine points.

-The Wildcats continue their stretch at home with a game against Fairfield University at 12 p.m. on Saturday March 3 and Monmouth University comes to Durham on Tuesday March, 13 at 12 p.m. at Bremner Field.

-Caitlin Leary gave UConn an early lead with a goal just 31 seconds after the opening draw control.
-Wooters responded quickly scoring at 28:14 and again at 24:47 into the first half. Schafer brought the Wildcat's lead to 3-1 with a goal with 23:08 left in the first half.
-Olivia Miles of UConn answered back on a free position shot with a goal at 19:41 and just 40 seconds later, Carly Wooters recorded her 8th goal of the season with 19:01 left.
-UConn scored four straight goals to take the lead 6-4
-Schafer from Sennott was the response for the Wildcats at 8:07 left in the first period.
-UConn extended their lead to 8-5 with goals from Leary and Kelsey Catalano.
-Schafer scored her third goal of the game for the Wildcats at 00:17 left in the first, bringing the score to 8-6.
-UConn brought their lead to 12-6 at the opening of the second half with four goals from Catalano, Grace Nolan, scoring twice, and Leary.
-At 13:38 Smith scored for the Wildcats, bringing the score to 12-7.
-Leary scored at 11:23, with Wildcat Rebecca Sennott scoring at 9:36, bringing the score to 13-8
-Nolan scored twice more for the Huskies, and Madison Hooper extended their led to 16-8.
