Muses’ Season-High 17 Kills Fuel Victory Over Harvard

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior captain Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) recorded a season-high 17 kills to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-16) victory over Harvard University, Tuesday night.

No team led by more than three points the entire set until the final 25-21 score. The Wildcats out-killed the Crimson 14-10 in the first stanza to take a 1-0 lead. UNH earned five of the final seven points to squeeze out the set-win. Severtson had a kill and an ace in the run while Tanski finished with a spike herself.
-2nd set-
Muses and Severtson earned four of the first five points during a 5-0 run to start the second set. New Hampshire stretched its lead to 11-3 early and notched 17 kills in the period, the best total in a set throughout the match. Harvard's early mistakes created an impossible challenge to overcome, and UNH led 2-0 after two sets.
-3rd set-
The final set had the 'Cats up 6-1 early, much like set two, as Tanski and Demi had a point and two kills, respectively, during the run. The Wildcats held onto a comfortable lead all the way up to a 17-11 advantage until Harvard responded with five of the next six points to reduce the deficit to two, 18-16. New Hampshire finished strong with seven straight points to wrap up the match. Tankski recorded three kills in the run, the only points UNH earned on their own during the stretch.
