Volleyball Bolsters Coaching Staff With Two New Hires

Matt Bozek and Chris Gil join the ‘Cats following successful coaching stops.
DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball program has completed its coaching staff with the additions of assistant coaches Chris Gil and Matt Bozek, head coach Christopher Feliciano announced on Monday (Aug. 3).
We're really excited to welcome both Chris and Matt to the Wildcat family, shared Feliciano, they each bring unique skillsets that will make an immediate impact on our program while laying a foundation for continued success in the years ahead. We're fortunate that both wanted to join our journey and to be a part of what we're doing.
Gil joins the Wildcat coaching staff following a one-year stint with Manhattan University, where he served as head assistant coach and helped guide the men's volleyball program through its inaugural season. With the Jaspers, Gil oversaw key operational responsibilities, including coordinating team travel, managing hotel and meal logistics, and organizing camps and clinics.
Beyond his operational responsibilities, Gil played an integral role in all facets of the program, from spearheading recruiting efforts and collaborating with the athletic department to leading practice planning and developing the Jaspers' offensive identity.
During the hiring process as we were looking to fill Alysa Sargent's old position, Chris emerged as a leading candidate because of his energy, his desire to grow, and his passion for the sport, Feliciano said, just from speaking with him, it's clear that we've hired someone who will help take our program to the next level. I'm excited for him to work with us every day and to see what he brings, as he's truly a hidden gem in our sport.
Prior to his time with the Jaspers, Gil served as the sole assistant coach for the men's volleyball program at Merrimack College, where he managed team travel and logistics during the 2024 season. Through his work with the Warriors, Gil was a recipient of the 2024 AVCA Diversity Award, being one of just 33 coaches to earn the distinction nationwide.
Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Gil coached at MVP Academy in Boston, where he worked with the 15U, 16U, and 17U teams from 2022-2025, focusing on player development and evaluation.
A three-year starter at Eastern Nazarene College, Gil competed with the Lions men's volleyball program from 2020-2024.
Bozek enters his first year with the Wildcats following an extensive youth coaching career, including seven years with 603 United. During his tenure with the club, he coached boys and girls ages 16-18, emphasizing technical development and a competitive mindset. He also served on the 603 United Board of Directors, where he contributed to long-term strategy, governance and growth initiatives.
I've had the privilege of watching Matt grow as a coach over the past few years during my time at 603 United, Feliciano said, I'm excited to have him join our staff because I believe he brings balance, patience, and a work ethic to be envied. He is someone that I trust, someone I'm excited to work with, and I believe he can help our current student-athletes accomplish great things.
Bozek also gained experience at the high school level, serving as head coach of the Salem High School girls junior varsity team. In 2024, he led the program to a 16-2 record while assisting the varsity coaching staff with training sessions, match-day operations, and scouting preparations.
Prior to his time with Salem High School, Bozek spent three seasons with Exeter High School's junior varsity team from 2020-2023, guiding the team to a 10-0 season in 2020 while fostering a positive team culture centered on sportsmanship and resilience.
A four-year letterwinner at Endicott College, Bozek competed with the Seagulls from 2016-2019, where he was a three-time Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Champion.
