Wildcats Place Fourth at Harvard Carnival

Alpine team competed in the giant slalom.
BURKE, Vt. – Graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) led the Wildcats with a 10th-place finish as the University of New Hampshire alpine team competed in the giant slalom to conclude the Harvard Carnival at Burke Mountain.
The men's team placed seventh in the giant slalom with 76 points and the women's team posted an eighth-place finish with 55 points.
UNH finished fourth overall out of 14 teams with 683 points. Vermont won the carnival with 895.5 points, while Dartmouth was second (756), Colby was third (696) and Middlebury was fifth (600).
The Alpine team will return to action for a NCAA Qualifier on Thursday, Feb. 8 at Dartmouth Skiway. Then the UNH ski team will compete at the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10.

Brayton was 10th with a combined time of 2:06.32 capturing 30 points, while senior captain Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) was 17th (2:06.86) earning 24 points. Junior Mons Langaard (Oslo, Norway) rounded out the scoring with 22 points at 19th (2:07.48).
Graduate student Cassie Lieblein (Harrisburg, Pa.) was the top finisher for UNH at 19th (2:15.70) picking up 22 points. Sophomore Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) placed 25th (2:17.36) posting 17 points and freshman Shelby Graves (Spofford, N.H.) was 26th (2:17.57) securing 16 points.
