Hunter Brayton Leads UNH Ski in Giant Slalom NCAA Qualifier

LYME, N.H. – Graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) placed fifth to lead the University of New Hampshire alpine ski team in the giant slalom NCAA Qualifier at Dartmouth Skiway on Thursday.

For the men's team, Brayton was fifth with a combined time of 1:54.07 earning 45 NCAA points, while sophomore Isac Hedström (Are, Sweden) recorded a ninth-place finish (1:55.22) to pick up 29 NCAA points. Senior Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.) posted 20 NCAA points at 13th (1:55.57) and senior captain Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) was 14th (1:55.67) tallying 18 NCAA points. Junior Mons Langaard (Oslo, Norway) was 24th (1:56.45) and secured seven NCAA points.

On the women's side, junior Gaia Palamara (Verona, Italy) led the 'Cats at 15th (2:00.21) and recorded 16 NCAA points. Sophomore Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) placed 21st (2:00.84) earning 10 NCAA points.

The UNH ski team will compete at the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10. The Nordic events will be the 1.3K skate (10 a.m.) on Friday and the 15K classic (10 a.m.) on Saturday at Oak Hill. At Dartmouth Skiway the giant slalom (9 a.m.) will be on Friday and the slalom (9 a.m.) will be on Saturday.
