Ski in Third Place After Day 1 of St. Michael’s Carnival

Lea Stabaek Wenaas led the Wildcats with a fourth place finish.
RIPTON, Vt. – Junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) placed fourth in the 1.3K skate on Friday at Rikert Touring Center as the UNH Nordic ski team competed on Day 1 of the St. Michael's Carnival.
UNH is currently in third place overall out of 14 teams with 179 points as the women's team was third with 97 points and the men's team was also third with 82 points. Middlebury leads the carnival with 245 points, while Vermont is second (238), Harvard is fourth (148) and Bowdoin is fifth (144).

RESULTS
Wenaas qualified for the finals and placed fourth overall with a time of 3:14.70 for 41 points. Senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) won the qualifying heat with a time of 3:08.83 and then finished seventh overall to post 35 points. Junior Alice House (Madison, Wis.) picked up 21 points as she placed 21st overall.
On the men's side, senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) tallied 33 points with an eighth-place overall finish. He placed fifth in the qualifying heat with a time of 2:47.12. Sophomore Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) earned 29 points placing 12th overall. He recorded a time of 2:47.28 for sixth place in the qualifying heat. Junior James Schneider (Plymouth, Minn.) secured 20 points with a 25th place finish.
