Nine Members of Ski Team Named to CSC Academic All-District At-Large Teams

Five men and four women recognized for combined athletic and academic excellence
GREENWOOD, Ind. - Nine members of the UNH skiing program –five men and four women- have been named to the 2024–25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). This prestigious honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and academic excellence.
The CSC Academic All-America® program honors student-athletes across five divisions, with these honorees representing NCAA Division I. The following Wildcat skiers demonstrated elite performance in and out of the classroom:
Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.), a senior men's Nordic skier, ranked No. 7 in the East. The mechanical engineering major (3.87 GPA) achieved his first EISA podium by placing third in the 7.5K classic at the Dartmouth Carnival, followed by a seventh in the 20K skate mass start. He also placed sixth in the classic race at the NCAA East Regional/EISA Championships/UNH Carnival.
Eli Gore (Madison, Wisc.), a senior men's Nordic skier, finished the season ranked 17th in the EAST with multiple Top-20 placements. The communication: media practices major (3.53 GPA) placed 10th in the 10K skate and was part of a fifth-place finish in the 3x5K relay at the St. Michael's Carnival. Gore also directed 90 Days Til Snow, a mid-length documentary that followed the Wildcats' alpine and Nordic teams' fall training season and the countdown to the first snowfall.
Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.), a graduate student men's alpine skier, ranked 23rd in the East. The business analytics major (3.83 GPA) posted a season-best 10th place in giant slalom at NCAA Regionals/EISAs and 12th in slalom at the St. Lawrence Carnival.
Charles Martell (Exeter, N.H.), a graduate student men's Nordic skier, boasted a perfect 4.00 GPA while studying toward his MBA. He notched a season-high seventh-place finish in the 20K freestyle at NCAA Regionals/EISAs and twice finished in 16th place in the 20K skate at St. Lawrence and Dartmouth.
Nathan Maybach (Boise, Idaho), a graduate student men's Nordic skier, registered a perfect 4.00 GPA in public policy. His top result of the season was 18th in the mass start at NCAA Regionals/EISAs. He also earned points at the Bates Carnival (23rd place, 15K skate) and the St. Lawrence Carnival (25th place, 20K skate).
Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario), a graduate student on the women's Nordic team, tallied a 3.80 GPA while studying molecular and cellular biotechnology to earn her third CSC Academic All-District Team honor. Lyons, who won UNH's 2025 Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete Award as the most outstanding female student-athlete based on athletic success, community involvement and academic achievement, was named to the All-East First Team after finishing the season ranked No. 5 in the East. She earned three podium finishes and competed at her fourth NCAA Championship, where she led the Wildcats in both races. She closed out the season with a runner-up finish in the 20K freestyle at NCAA Regionals/EISAs. She also secured third place in the 20K skate at Dartmouth and third in the sprint at Middlebury.
Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden), a junior women's alpine skier, was the EISA Points Champion and registered a 3.77 GPA majoring in business administration: finance and business administration: information systems and analytics. Martelleur ranked first in the East with 340 points, highlighted by slalom victories at the St. Lawrence and St. Michael's Carnivals. She opened the season with a third-place tie in the GS at Bates, followed by a second-place SL finish, earning EISA Alpine Skier of the Week on Jan. 12. She also placed third at the Middlebury Carnival.
Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.), a junior women's Nordic skier, ranked 20th in the East as a human development and family studies major (3.95 GPA). Barker finished eighth in the 10K skate at the St. Michael's Carnival and placed ninth in the 20K free at the NCAA Regionals/EISAs. This marks her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District Team honor.
Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden), a junior alpine skier, ranked No. 12 in the East as an analytical economics and global studies major (3.93 GPA). Kandell, who was named the Wildcat women's alpine team MVP, notched six Top-10 results during the EISA campaign, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the SL at NCAA Regionals/EISAs and sixth in SL at the Middlebury Carnival. She is a back-to-back member of the CSC Academic All-District Team.
The Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performance in athletics and the classroom (must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative GPA). The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions.
The 12 sports included on the women's at-large ballot are: beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.

Under first-year Director of Skiing/ Nordic head coach Shane MacDowell, the UNH ski team finished ninth nationally at the NCAA Championships. Freshman men's alpine skier Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) won the NCAA Men's Slalom National Championship, and 18th-year alpine head coach Brian Blank was named the National Alpine Coach of the Year by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA).
