Wildcats Announce 2025 Ski Team MVPs

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire ski program has announced its 2025 team MVPs, recognizing four standout student-athletes for their performances across the EISA Carnival season and NCAA Championships.
The winners of the Alpine team MVPs were junior Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) on the women's side and freshman Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) on the men's side. The winners of the 2025 Nordic team MVPs were graduate student Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario) for the women's team and senior Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) for the men's team.
UNH capped its season with a ninth-place finish out of 23 teams at the 2025 NCAA Championships, marking the fifth consecutive top-10 national finish for the Wildcats.
In her second career NCAA Championship appearance, Kandell led the Wildcats in the slalom with a 13th-place finish in 1:34.30, scoring 18 points. She narrowly missed All-America honors in the giant slalom, placing 11th in 1:58.93 to earn 20 points. During the EISA Carnival season, Kandell ranked 12th overall in the East. She finished fifth in slalom at the EISA Championships/NCAA East Regionals, sixth in GS at Middlebury, and earned a pair of seventh-place finishes at Dartmouth (SL) and Saint Michael's (GS).
Buckrell delivered a historic performance in his NCAA debut, winning the NCAA Men's Slalom National Championship with a time of 1:27.17 to secure First Team All-America honors. His 40-point performance led the UNH men's alpine squad to third place in the slalom event. Buckrell became just the third individual NCAA champion in program history. The standout freshman was named EISA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-East, and finished the season ranked fourth overall in the East. He earned three slalom podiums during the EISA carnival season: a win at EISA Championships/NCAA East Regionals, second at Middlebury, and third at Saint Michael's. He was also honored as EISA Alpine Skier of the Week on Feb. 3.
Lyons made her fourth NCAA Championships appearance this year and led the Wildcats in both races. She placed 17th in the 7.5K classic (25:31.9) and 17th in the 20K freestyle (53:42.9), earning a combined 28 points. In EISA competition, Lyons was a First Team All-East honoree and finished fifth overall in the East. She closed out the season with a runner-up finish in the 20K freestyle at the regional championship meet. She also secured third place in the 20K skate at Dartmouth and third in the sprint at Middlebury.
