Petke, Jablonski Lift 'Cats Past Northeastern, 3-2

Petke Finishes With Season-High 15 Kills and Career-High Seven Blocks, Jablonski Tallies Personal-Best 17 Kills
BOSTON – Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) and Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) recorded 17 and 15 kills, respectively – and Petke added seven blocks – to propel the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to Tuesday night's 3-2 win against Northeastern University at Cabot Center.
Jablonski tallied her match- and career-high 17 kills on a .407 hitting percentage. Petke finished with a match-leading 18.5 points and her seven blocks marked a personal best.
UNH extended its win streak to three matches to improve to 6-2 overall. NU, which had won three straight, is now 4-3.
UP NEXT: UNH travels to Colgate University for the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament. The Wildcats play Rutgers University in the opening match of the tourney on Sept. 13 (3 p.m.), and then play Colgate and Quinnipiac University on Sept. 14.
NEXT HOME MATCH: New Hampshire's next home match is Oct. 11 against Binghamton University. It is earmarked as a Dig Pink fundraiser, and pink pom poms will be given away to fans.

TOP 'CATS
•Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) recorded her second consecutive double-double with a match-high 25 assists and 10 digs.
•Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished with 24 assists.
•Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.), the two-time America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, led the Wildcats with 15 digs and also contributed five assists.
•Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) made it three 'Cats in double-digit kills with 10.
•Hannah Crist (Cicero, Ind.) and Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) chipped in with five and four blocks, respectively.
SET 1
•UNH called the first timeout of the match facing a 12-8 deficit but won four consecutive points out of the break, buoyed by a kill and block by Crist, to tie the score.
•The Wildcats continued momentum and took a 15-14 lead on Sullivan's kill, which prompted Northeastern to call time out.
•Trailing 16-15, UNH won four consecutive points – the last two on kills by Erin Hedrick (Montvale, N.J.) – to go back in front, 19-16.
•New Hampshire's lead then fluctuated between 1-2 points, and a combined block by Smith and Crist advanced the score to set point, 24-22.
•UNH's strong defensive effort prolonged the next point, which ended with a kill by Hedrick to end the set in favor of the 'Cats.
SET 2
•With the score tied at 5, the Wildcats went on a 3-0 spurt to inch ahead 8-5.
•Soon thereafter, NU won three consecutive points to level the score at 11.
•The teams alternated points to advance the score to 15-15, then the Huskies regained the lead at 16-15.
•After UNH went in front 18-17, the home team won two consecutive points.
•A Sullivan-and-Petke combined block gave UNH a 20-19 lead, but the Huskies won the next two points to take a one-point lead and force the 'Cats to take their last timeout of the set.
•The Huskies won the next point out of the break to extend the advantage to 22-20.
•New Hampshire rallied to tie the score at 23, at which point NU called its last timeout of Set 2.
•Smith's kill gave UNH set point but the Huskies prolonged the set. On the next set point, however, Smith served an ace to give the 'Cats a 2-0 lead in the match.

•The score was tied at 5 for the second consecutive set, and once again New Hampshire went on a run to build a 9-5 advantage.
•NU rallied to level the score at 10, and a 4-0 spurt gave the home team a 15-12 advantage.
•Trailing 17-13, UNH called its last timeout of the set and the 'Cats responded with two consecutive points to close within 17-15.
•The Huskies answered with three straight points to push the margin to 20-15 and ended the set on a 5-0 run to extend the match.

•Northeastern rolled out to a 4-0 lead, but UNH called time out and responded with three consecutive points to close within one.
•The Huskies extended the advantage to 10-5 but a 6-2 run by the 'Cats once again made it a one-point differential and prompted an NU timeout.
•Petke's kill evened the score at 12, and the set was also level at 14 before NU won four consecutive points to build a 20-15 lead.
•The Wildcats closed within 21-19 and 22-20, but the home team closed on a 3-0 run to send the match to a decisive fifth set.
SET 5
•Smith kill on the first point, and the score was even at 1, 2, and 3 before UNH inched ahead 5-3.
•With the 'Cats ahead 5-4, back-to-back kills by Jablonski gave the visitors a 7-4 edge and forced NU to call a timeout.
•Out of the break, Jablonski hit through the block to push the margin to 8-4.
•Northeastern answered with a 4-0 run to tie the score at 8.
•Following a Huskies' attack error, Patlovich's second ace of the match gave UNH a 10-8 lead.

•Tanski climbed to No. 6 on the program's all-time digs leaderboard with 1,211. She surpassed Jillian Ross (1,207) and Sasha Scott is next at 1,226.
•Smith, who became the 17th UNH player to record 1,000 career points on Sept. 6, increased her total to 1,038 with 12.5 more at Northeastern.
•At 6-2 overall, this is UNH's best record through eight matches since the 2015 squad also won 6 of 8 at the start of the year.
