Balanced Team Effort Leads 'Cats to Sweep of Hartford

DURHAM, N.H. – Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) recorded a team-high 12 points to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to Friday night's 3-0 victory against the University of Hartford at Lundholm Gym. The set scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
UNH won its third consecutive match to improve to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in America East. Hartford is 11-9, 3-2.
Smith recorded 10 kills on a .242 hitting percentage; she also had two blocks and a service ace.
UP NEXT // NEXT HOME MATCH: UNH concludes its three-match homestand Oct. 20 (1 p.m.) against Stony Brook University. It has been earmarked as a Spread Respect game.

STAT LEADERS
•Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and Bre Smith (Boonville, Mo.) both finished with a match-high four blocks.
•Petke tallied 10 points. She recorded eight kills on a .353 hitting percentage.
•Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) had eight points on eight kills; she did not have an attack error on 21 attempts for a .381 hitting percentage.
•Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) followed with 7.5 points on six kills – .312 hitting percentage – and three blocks.
•Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) orchestrated UNH's offense to a .303 hitting percentage. Patlovich finished with 18 assists, as well as three aces and four digs. Macaulay had 14 assists, one aced and seven digs.
•Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) made a match-high 16 saves, and Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.) was second on the squad with nine.

•New Hampshire has a 46-3 lifetime record against Hartford and has won 13 consecutive matchups dating back to 2012.
•Tanski is No. 3 on the program's all-time digs list with 1,361. Next on the list is No. 2 Jen Williams at 1,398.
•Smith, who became the 17th UNH player to record 1,000 career points on Sept. 6, increased her total to 1,153.5. Kim Mirts-Poen ranks 10th at 1,179.

•Hartford took an early 7-4 lead but UNH rallied to level the score with three consecutive points that included a Petke kill and Patlovich service ace.
•The Hawks won the next point to regain the lead, but then the 'Cats reeled off eight straight to build a 15-8 advantage. Smith had two kills and a block – while Sullivan had a kill and two blocks – during the decisive spurt.
•Hartford closed within 21-18 before UNH advanced to set point at 24-18 on a kill by Jablonski, combined block by Sullivan and Petke and kill by Smith.
SET 2
•Undeterred, the visiting Hawks won the first three points of the second set and built a five-point margin of 8-3.
•Trailing 11-6, the Wildcats went on a 3-0 run, including back-to-back Petke kills, and eventually leveled the set at 14.
•Hartford won the next two points, but New Hampshire responded with a 5-0 spurt to take a 19-16 lead that would not be relinquished. Jablonski tallied two kills during the run.
SET 3
•There were seven ties and three lead changes in the third set. Those totals were a combined six and two, respectively, through two sets.
•Hartford once again took a 3-0 lead, but UNH surged ahead by winning four consecutive points.
•With the score tied at 12, UNH's three-point run was ignited an overall spurt of 7-1 that gave the 'Cats a 19-13 advantage.
•The Hawks rallied within 19-18, however, and trailed just 20-19 before UNH closed the set and match on a 5-1 run.
