'Cats Defeat Stony Brook, 3-0, for Fourth Straight Win

Abby Sullivan Matches Career Highs in Points (16) and Kills (15) with a .667 Hitting Percentage

DURHAM, N.H. – Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) recorded a match-high 16 points to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to Sunday afternoon's 3-0 victory against Stony Brook University at Lundholm Gymnasium. The set scores were 25-15, 25-22, and 25-20.
UNH won its fourth consecutive match to advance to 14-5 overall and 4-1 in America East, as well as 6-1 at home. Stony Brook falls to 7-13, 2-3.
Sullivan recorded 15 kills and just one error on 21 attacks for a .667 hitting percentage; she also had two assisted blocks. The 15 kills and 16 points both matched career highs.

STAT LEADERS
• Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) recorded 12 point on 12 kills with a .375 hitting percentage.
• Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs. She had a .333 hitting percentage.
• Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) finished with a match-high 12 digs.
• Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) guided the 'Cat attack to a .386 hitting percentage with 24 and 17 assists, respectively.
UNH NOTEBOOK
• UNH has won each of the past three matches in straight sets and has won 10 consecutive sets.
• Tanski is No. 3 on the program's all-time digs list with 1,373. Next on the list is No. 2 Jen Williams at 1,398.
• Smith, who became the 17th UNH player to record 1,000 career points on Sept. 6, increased her total to 1,164.5. Kim Mirts-Poen ranks 10th at 1,179.
• Smith is on the verge of becoming the ninth Wildcat to reach 1,000 career kills; she has 997.
• New Hampshire has a 25-16 lifetime record against Stony Brook and that includes an 11-2 advantage the past 13 meetings.
SET 1
• Trailing 6-5, UNH went on a 7-1 run to build a 12-7 lead. Sullivan and Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) had two kills apiece during the spurt.
• Leading 17-14, the 'Cats reeled off seven consecutive points to advance the score to set point. Erin Hedrick (Montvale, N.J.) tallied two blocks and a kill during the decisive run.
• Another Hedrick kill gave UNH the first set, 25-23.
SET 2
• Stony Brook opened the first set with a 5-2 lead, but the Wildcats fought back to take a 10-9 lead.
• After continuous back-and-forth pushed the score to 19-18 in favor of the 'Cats, kills by Smith and Petke surrounded Tanski's service ace to push UNH's advantage to 22-18.
• SBU fended off two set points, but UNH took the set on a kill by Jablonski.
SET 3
• A service ace by Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.) opened up the third set and three Petke kills ignited the Wildcats to an early 6-3 lead.
• Stony Brook closed within 9-8 before UNH inched out to a 12-8 advantage.
• The teams exchanged points until the visitors finally won back-to-back points to push the score to 16-14 in favor of New Hampshire.
• SBU trimmed the deficit to one point, 18-17 before Sullivan kills sandwiched another by Petke to give the 'Cats a 21-17 lead.
• Leading 22-20, UNH capitalized on an attack error and service error by the Seawolves, and then Smith finished the set and match.
