THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
- UNH was selected third in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released Aug. 9. Hartford and Albany were picked ahead of the Wildcats in the nine-team league.
- UNH opened the season with a 3-0-0 record for the first time since 1991, on their way to their first non-conference winning record since 2005.
- New Hampshire's 6-3-0 non-conference record is the best in program history.
- UNH's 7-3-0 record is their best through 10 games since 1991, when the 'Cats went 7-2-1.
- Senior captain Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.), the two-time reigning America East Striker of the Year, has led not only UNH but the conference in both goals and points each of the past two seasons. Murphy has 13 points on the season thus far (6g, 1a).
- Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) follows behind Murphy in the point total with seven points (3g, 1a). Williams notched the game-winning goals against Colorado State and conference foe Binghamton.
- Francesca Picicci (North Massapequa, N.Y.) scored her first two career goals against Army in UNH's 2-0 victory. An assist in the victory at Northern Colorado gives her five points on the season.
- Veronica Hardy (North Smithfield, R.I.) has chipped in so far with four points this season (1g, 2a).
- Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) was one of five Wildcats who started all 19 games a year ago and was named to the conference's All-Rookie Team. She tallied two assists in UNH's victory over Binghamton, giving her three total on the season.
- The defensive unit is anchored by senior Kendra Prince (Ajax, Ontario), the other Wildcat who garnered All-Conference First Team recognition in 2016. She has started every game the past two years, including all six games this season. Prince helped New Hampshire shut out five opponents last year and ranked third among field players in minutes played. Prince has one assist for one point so far this season.
- Caroline Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.) is another experienced player in the backfield. She started all 19 games a year ago – and led all players in minutes with 1796 – en route to being named to the America East All-Rookie Team.
- Senior captain Jackie Feraco (Holden, Mass.) is a veteran leader on the backline. In the 2015 season, Feraco played 1788 of a possible 1806 minutes. She assisted on Brooke Murphy's career-record-breaking 39th goal against Northeastern.
- Junior midfielder Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) tallied a game-winning goal in the season opener, and the first goal of the conference part of the schedule against Binghamton, for four points on the season.
- Senior goalkeeper Mia Neas (Old Saybrook, Conn.) has tallied a 7-3-0 record so far in her first starting season, after seeing action in only three games prior to this season. She has made 57 saves, for a .864 save percentage, and 0.90 goals allowed average. She has shut out three teams this season (LIU Brooklyn, Army, Northeastern).
MURPHY PUTS HER NAME IN THE RECORD BOOKS
- Brooke Murphy has already broken the program record for career goals scored, and is looking to break the career points record as well.
- The UNH benchmark of 38 goals was established by Diane McLoughlin, and stood since 1990. Murphy scored her 39th career goal against Northeastern on September 17, 2017 to set the bar higher.
- Murphy now sits at 88 points, tying Chiara Best's mark of 88 points established from 2001-04.
A WILDCATS VICTORY....
- Would be UNH's fourth in a row, the longest winning streak since 2015 when the Wildcats won their first four conference games.
- Would put them at 2-0-0 in conference for the third straight year.
- Would give UNH a .500 road winning percentage.
SCOUTING VERMONT
- The Catamounts (Burlington, Vt.) enter the contest with a 4-4-1 record, having not yet played a conference game this season.
- Vermont wrapped up their non-conference schedule traveling to Smithfield, RI to face Bryant, as they fell to the Bulldogs 4-1.
- UVM has not yet suffered a loss at home, possessing a 3-0-1 record.
- The Catamounts are a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season.
- Vermont has a -0.45 goal differential.
- Sarah Martin leads the team in the point column, as she's tallied two goals and four assists for eight total points.
- Two players on the team have tallied a team-high three goals; Brooke Jenkins (3g, 1a, 7p) and Ella Bankert (3g, 6p)
- Goalkeeper Coco Speckmaier has started all nine games in the net for UVM. She has a 4-4-1 record through those nine games, shutting out two teams. She has made 53 saves for a .803 save percentage, and has allowed 13 goals for a 1.44 GAA.
LOOKING AHEAD:
After UVM, the 'Cats will return home for a pair of home games at Bremner Field. On Sunday, October 1 they host the Albany Great Danes for Senior Day at 2 p.m. On Thursday, October 5, the Wildcats will host the Maine Black Bears at 7 p.m.
