Elizabeth Finn scores for the Wildcats

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Elizabeth Finn (Scituate, Mass.) scored her third goal of the season as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied UMBC, 1-1, on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.

With this result the Wildcats have cliched a bid to the America East Tournament for the 12th straight season and will play in the First Round on Sunday, Nov. 2.

The 'Cats are now 4-4-7 (2-1-4 AE), while the Retrievers are 6-7-4 (2-4-1 AE). UNH is 2-0-4 over its last six games and the Wildcats are currently in fourth place in the America East standings with 10 points with one regular season game remaining. The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will play at home in the First Round.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Junior Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) made a diving save on a shot by Gabby Larson from 18 yards out just 16 seconds after the kickoff of the game.
The Wildcats took their first shot on goal in the 17th minute when senior Elaina Grenz (River Edge, N.J.) fired a shot that was saved by Kalli Williams.
Freshman Nina Ciri (Hopkinton, Mass.) blasted a shot from 35 yards out that ricocheted off the woodwork in the 32nd minute as the game remained scoreless.
Finn gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute (50:41) as she rocketed a shot from 20 yards out to the upper middle of the net. Graduate student Chloe DeLyser (Marion, N.Y.) and junior Natalie Zibinskas (Kensington, N.H.) each recorded an assist on the goal.

UMBC found the equalizer in the 63rd minute (62:50) when Payton Schenning scored on a one-timer to the upper right corner of the net off a pass by Larson.
Neither team was able to secure the game winner for the 1-1 final score.
