
Women’s Soccer Rallies for 2-2 Draw at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – With the Wildcats trailing 2-0 in the second half, sophomore back Olivia Siwicki (North Andover, Mass.) and graduate student forward Shya Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.) each scored as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied Stony Brook, 2-2, on Sunday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
The 'Cats, who are 1-0-2 over their last three games, are now 1-2-3, while the Seawolves, who had won four straight games, are now 4-2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The Seawolves took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute (8:10), when Linn Beck sent a shot to the bottom right side of the goal.
· Freshman back Abby Beasley (Fishers, Ind.) almost tied the game in the 24th minute with a header but the ball hit the left post.
· Stony Brook increased the lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute (51:26), when Beck headed the ball towards the net off a corner kick as graduate student back Molly McHugh (Tyngsborough, Mass.) cleared the ball off the line, but Hannah Maracina then sent a loose ball to the lower left corner of the net.
· The 'Cats cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 59th minute (58:34) with the first collegiate goal by Siwicki as she sent a one-timer that deflected off a Stony Brook defender to the back of the net. Walker and freshman back Riley Mitza (Tyngsborough, Mass.) each recorded an assist. The assist by Mitza was her first collegiate point.
· Just 1:26 later (60:00), Walker tied the contest at 2-2 with a turnaround goal as she blasted a shot from 15 yards out to the lower left side of the net for her team-best third goal of the season. Junior forward Natalie Zibinskas (Kensington, N.H.) posted her second assist of the season on the goal. Walker now leads the team with three goals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· Stony Brook outshot UNH, 30-10, while the Seawolves posted nine shots on goal and the Wildcats recorded five.
· The Seawolves attempted 13 corner kicks and the Wildcats took four.
· Junior Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) made five saves for the 'Cats, while Jona Hennings tallied three saves for the Seawolves.
