Women’s Soccer Tallies 3-1 Win at UAlbany

Walker, Grenz and Maier score for the Wildcats
ALBANY, N.Y. – Graduate student forward Ricshya Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior forward Elaina Grenz (River Edge, N.J.) and senior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) each scored for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team defeated UAlbany, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Bob Ford Field.
Junior goalie Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) made four saves to earn the win.
The 'Cats improve to 4-4-4 (2-1-1 AE), while the Great Danes fall to 2-9-2 (1-4-0 AE).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The 'Cats took the first shot on goal of the game when Maier fired a shot from 18 yards out that was going to the upper left corner of the net but Claudia Volino made a diving save in the fifth minute.
- Maier earned another strong scoring opportunity in the 15th minute when she stole the ball and took a shot from 12 yards out that was saved by Volino.
- Walker gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead when scored off a rebound from a penalty kick shot by Maier in the 23rd minute (22:26).

- UAlbany tied the contest at 1-1 in the 66th minute (65:05) when Selma Elverum sent a through ball to Tamia Nelson who one-timed it to the lower right corner of the net.
- The Wildcats moved out to a 2-1 advantage when Grenz intercepted a UAlbany pass and sent a shot to the lower right corner of the net from 18 yards out in the 78th minute (77:29).

- Then just 56 seconds later (78:25), Maier rocketed a shot from 35 yards out to the upper 90 for the spectacular goal.
