Women's Soccer Holds Annual Banquet; Announces Award Winners

Maier named Offensive Player of the Year & Kolb earns Defensive Player of the Year honors
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer program held their annual end of season banquet as the Class of 2026 was recognized and Head Coach Steve Welham handed out team awards.
2025 UNH Women's Soccer Team Awards:
Most Outstanding Freshman: Abby Beasley
Top Student-Athlete: Abbi Maier
Coaches Award: Elaina Grenz
Offensive Player of the Year: Abbi Maier
Defensive Player of the Year: Maddie Kolb
Barros Family Award: Jules Vano
Wildcat Award: Charles Brissette
Beasley started in all 17 games on defense with one goal and three assists for five points. She was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 6 as she scored the game winner with her first collegiate goal in the 1-0 win versus UMass Lowell on Oct. 2 in the 84th minute. Beasley's three assists tied for second on the team and eighth in the conference.

Grenz has made a huge positive impact on the local community during her time in Durham. As the social media chair of the executive board of SAAC she dedicated numerous hours promoting and organizing several important events such as Bench Out The Stigma, Hoops4Hunger, Food Frenzy, Mental Health Trivia and Strong Girls United. Grenz just recently was honored with the Cathy Coakley Student-Athlete Community Involvement Award at the WESPYs.

Maier had a stellar senior season earning America East Co-Midfielder of the Year honors and All-Atlantic Region accolades. Maier was only the second player in program history to be named the America East Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year as she has a 3.98 GPA as a Health Sciences major.

She also was named to the All-ECAC Second Team and America East All-Conference First Team. In 2025, she led the team with a career-best six goals and 14 points as she also added two assists. Maier tied for fifth in the conference in goals and tied for sixth in points. Maier also won the United Soccer Coaches Player of Distinction Award.

The 2024 America East Defender of the Year, Kolb had another outstanding season as the anchor of the defense in 2025 as she started in all 17 games and was a strong leader as the captain of the team. She was named to the All-Atlantic Region Fourth Team, All-New England Third Team and the All-America East Second Team. Kolb also won the United Soccer Coaches Player of Distinction Award.

Vano was the recipient of the Barros Family Award and is voted on by the team and is presented to a player who has faced tremendous adversity but has exhibited a positive life force, persevered and pushed through when others would have quit and whose pursuit of excellence is uncompromising. The award was dedicated to Mr. Fernando Barros, Mrs. Gail Barros, and their daughter Lia during the 2008 season.

Director of Player Analytics and Operations, Charles Brissette received the Wildcat Award in special recognition of his contributions to the program.
