SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica – University of New Hampshire women's soccer alumna Ricshya Walker '25 signed with Sporting FC of the Costa Rican Women's Premier Division and has seen major success with her first professional team.
Walker made an immediate impact with the club scoring six goals over her first four professional games. She netted two goals against Dimas Escazú in her debut, scored another against LD Alajuelense, struck twice versus Moravia and recorded a goal against Saprissa.
Walker is the 11th player in program history to turn professional starting in 2016.
"I'm very excited to sign with Sporting FC and begin this next step in my career," said Walker after her signing. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to working with the team and growing as a player."
A native of Philadelphia and a member of the Jamaican National Team, Walker played the 2025 season with the Wildcats after three seasons at La Salle University. She played in 16 games with 14 starts ranking second on team in goals (5) and points (13), and tied for second in assists (3). Walker was ninth in the America East in goals and tied for eighth in points. She was named to the All-New England Third Team and won the Service Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week twice.
"We are thrilled for Ricshya and so happy to see her continue the game she loves at the highest level," said UNH women's soccer head coach Steve Welham. "Even though we only had "Shy" for one season she left an indelible mark on our program as an imposing force on the field and an outstanding student-athlete and person off it. She is a very intelligent player and has certainly been a student of the game. She now has the opportunity every day to become the player she dreams of at the professional level, and we have no doubt she is soaking in every single moment! Go get it Shy we are so happy you are living out a dream and accomplishing everything you wanted to! Special times…enjoy it!"
