DURHAM, N.H. – Senior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) tied the game on a penalty kick goal in the 52nd minute as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied first-place Binghamton, 1-1, on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.

Junior goalkeeper Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) made seven saves to limit Binghamton to one goal as the Bearcats lead the conference with 26 goals.

The 'Cats are now 4-4-6 (2-1-3 AE), while the Bearcats are 10-1-4 (5-0-2 AE). UNH is 2-0-3 over its last five games and the Wildcats are currently tied for third place in the America East standings with nine points as there are two regular season games remaining. The top six teams qualify for the America East Tournament.

The 'Cats will return to action versus UMBC on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. on ESPN+ at Wildcat Stadium for final regular season home game of the year. It is also Garrison City F.C. Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Bearcats took the first shot on goal of the game when Jahkaya Davis sent a shot from 15 yards out, but Zeepvat was able to make the save in the second minute
The Wildcats were called for a foul in the box and the penalty kick by Megan Baker ricocheted off the woodwork as the game remained tied 0-0 in the 29th minute.
Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute (35:04) when Isabella Martillo scored on a header from 10 yards out.
Zeepvat then made a diving save in the 44th minute on a shot by Paige Luke as the game went to the half with the Bearcats up 1-0.
Graduate student forward Ricshya Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.) drew a foul in the box and Maier capitalized by firing the penalty kick to the middle of the net in the 52nd minute (51:16) to tie the score at 1-1
Neither team was able to score the game winner for the 1-1 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Binghamton outshot UNH, 20-10, while the Bearcats took eight shots on goal and the Wildcats posted four.
The Bearcats attempted seven corner kicks and the Wildcats took one.
Zeepvat posted seven saves, while Rebecca Kessler made three.

Maier now leads the team with five goals and is tied with Walker for the team-lead with 11 points. Her three penalty kick goals also are first on the team.
