Hegan Competes for Canada at FIS Junior World Ski Championships

SCHILIPARIO, Italy - Freshman Clara Hegan (Ottawa, Ontario) of the University of New Hampshire ski team is competing for Canada at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships, which runs from Feb. 3-9.

Hegan placed 35th in the classic sprint with a time of 3:26.81. She is set to race again in the 20K mass start on Feb. 5, the 10K interval start on Feb. 7, and the 4x5K relay on Feb. 9.

In UNH's season opener, she led the Wildcats with a second-place finish in the individual skate (25:51.2, 47 points). Hegan followed that with another strong performance at the St. Lawrence Carnival, securing second place in 22:21.8 for 47 points.

The UNH ski team returns to action for the Dartmouth Carnival Feb. 7-8.
