'Cats Advance to America East Final with 3-1 Win Over Binghamton

Elizabeth Finn Leads 'Cats with Two Goals and One Assist
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore forward Elizabeth Finn (Scituate, Mass.) tallied two goals and one assist for five points as the No. 2 seed University of New Hampshire women's soccer team defeated No. 3 seed Binghamton, 3-1, on Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium in the semifinals of the America East Championship. Finn was outstanding as she factored in all three UNH goals.
With the win, the Wildcats advance to the final to take on No. 1 seed Maine in Orono on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. on ESPN+. The Black Bears defeated No. 4 seed UMass Lowell 2-0 tonight.
UNH is looking to win its third America East championship and capture the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 'Cats previously won the title in 2014 and 2022.
The Wildcats are now 12-4-1, while the Bearcats conclude their season at 7-6-5. The 12 wins by UNH ties the school record set in 1988.

- The Bearcats took an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute (9:47) when Mackenzie Ryder sent a one-timer from six yards out to the lower left side of the goal off a pass from Isabella Martillo.
- The Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute (31:58) when Finn fired a shot from the goalkeeper box to left side of the net off a pass from senior forward Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.). The goal was Finn's second of the season.
- UNH moved out to a 2-1 advantage in the 44th minute (43:31) with a goal by junior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio). Finn sent a through pass to Maier who blasted the ball to the back of the net for her fourth goal of the year.
- The Wildcats extended their lead to 3-1 when Finn scored her second goal of the contest in the 66th minute (65:46) when she drove the ball with her right foot to the lower left corner of the goal for her third score of the year. Graduate student midfielder Anna Hewlett (Webster, N.Y.) tallied an assist on the goal.
- Neither team scored again for the 3-1 final.

- UNH outshot Binghamton 16-8, while the 'Cats took four shots on goal and the Bearcats had two.
- UNH had nine corner kicks and the Bearcats took five.
- Redshirt junior goalkeeper Sally Rainey (West Lebabon, N.H.) made one save for the 'Cats, while Kaitlyn Williams also posted one for the Bearcats.

- UNH is now 14-8-6 all-time versus Binghamton.
- Finn is the first 'Cat this season to post five points.
