Women’s Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

‘Cats posted a 3.53 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team was recognized for its excellence in the classroom by earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced. The Wildcats posted a 3.53 team grade point average to receive the honor.
The United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award is presented annually to collegiate programs that achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.
"Academics are a major priority, and we are very proud of our academic prowess in the classroom, we believe in the student-athlete model," said UNH women's soccer head coach Steve Welham. "For us, you need to be a good person, good student and good soccer player to be a UNH Wildcat!"
UNH continued its tradition of academic success throughout the 2025-26 academic year, highlighted by Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) being named the America East Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Maier also graduated as an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete, an honor awarded to student-athletes who earn an undergraduate degree during the academic year while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. She finished her career with a 3.98 GPA and earned the department's Wildcat Award for Academic Excellence.
Jules Vano (Yorktown, N.Y.) was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. The organization recognizes undergraduate student-athletes who compete at the varsity level, have achieved junior academic standing or higher, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Maier and Elaina Grenz (River Edge, N.J.) were recognized by the society for the second consecutive year after maintaining membership requirements.
Maier's academic accomplishments were further recognized with selection to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches Division I Scholar All-East Region Team. Maier and Grenz also earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
The Wildcats placed 22 student-athletes on the America East Academic Honor Roll, including Chloe DeLyser (Marion, N.Y.), Maier, Olivia Moynihan (Sayville, N.Y.) and Ricshya Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.), who each recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA during the Fall 2025 semester.
UNH has advanced to three America East championship matches in the last five years and will begin the 2026 season on Aug. 13 at Stonehill College, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
