'Cats allow two goals in a game for the first time all season.
NEWTON, Mass. – After a strong defensive first half, the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to ACC foe Boston College by a score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats held the Eagles to one shot on goal in the first half, but BC notched goals in the 61st and 77th minutes to remain unbeaten on the season.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats, after playing their first true road game of the season, follow that up with a trip to Hanover, N.H. this Thursday evening when they face granite state rival Dartmouth at 5 P.M.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) tried to open up the game with an early scoring chance but her shot attempt was blocked.
- Reynolds tried again in the 10th minute but her shot on net was saved by BC goalkeeper Allie Augur.
- Senior Belle Pesante (Wakefiled, R.I.) tried to get the Wildcats on the board late in the opening half but her shot was saved.
- Senior Jill Conry (Bolton, Mass.) had a shot attempt blocked by a BC defender early in second half, which set the tone for the Eagles who did not allow a shot on goal in the final 45.
- BC struck first in the 61st minute as a shot was blocked by the UNH backline but an awaiting Francesca Venezia was able to put in the rebound at point-blank range to break the stalemate.
- Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) attempted to put one on net on a free kick in the 64th minute, but it went just wide of the frame.
- The Eagles extended their lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute on a feed into the box scored by Sam Smith.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Boston College was outshot on net 2-1 in the first half; the Eagles outshot UNH 4-0 in the second half.
- The Eagles led in total shots, 16-9.
- Boston College was awarded 11 corner kicks in the contest; UNH took two.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Two goals is the most the Wildcats have allowed in a game this season. They have allowed one goal in three games, and have two clean sheets.
- This was only the second time this season Boston College has been shut out in the first half.
- UNH is 1-2-0 away from Wildcat Stadium this season; 1-1 in neutral site games and 0-1-0 in true road games.
- Sophomore Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) stopped three of the five shots on target on the afternoon. That puts her season GAA to just 0.85 and her save percentage to .808.
