Wildcats Return Home Thursday to Face Marist (7 P.M.)

New Hampshire sees Marist at home, Boston College on the road this weekend.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, coming off a 1-1-0 weekend in the TD Bank Classic, returns home this Thursday, September 5 to face the Marist Red Foxes at 7 P.M.
The Wildcats will close out the weekend facing the Boston College Eagles, the first meeting of the two teams in 19 years. That contest takes place Sunday, September 8 at 2 P.M. and will be UNH's first true road game of the 2019 season.
The Series with Marist
• This will be the third all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Red Foxes.
• Both teams won their matchup at home; the Wildcats were victorious back in 2006 with a 2-0 victory, and most recently the Red Foxes edged out UNH at home in August of 2017 with a 1-0 victory.
The Series with Boston College
• The series history between UNH and BC goes back all the way to 1985, but this will be the first meeting of the two teams in 19 years. (Last meeting: September 19, 2000)
• BC holds a slight edge in the all-time series record at 5-9-3. The Eagles have a 4-0-1 record in the last five meetings.
• New Hampshire's last win came in 1994 by way of a 1-0 overtime victory.
Last Time Out
• The Wildcats went 1-1 in the TD Bank Classic this past weekend in Burlington, Vt.
• New Hampshire defeated Merrimack 3-1 in their first game of the classic with goals from seniors Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.), and freshman Whitney Wiley (Vienna, Va.).
• Rumbold's goal came off of a free kick in the first minute of the second half, giving New Hampshire the win and Rumbold her first goal of the season.
• UNH fell late to North Dakota State in their second game of the tournament despite tallying seven shots on goal and 16 total shots. A goal in the 86th minute just got past the UNH defense for a 1-0 NDSU victory.
• Three Wildcats found themselves on the TD Bank Classic All-Tournament team: sophomore Sofia Borea (Oakville, Ontario), and seniors Megan Rumbold and Caitlyn Keenan (Bow, N.H.).
The State of New Hampshire
• New Hampshire enters the 2019 season picked fifth in the America East preseason coaches poll, with one first-place vote.
• The Wildcats carry a large number of returning, experienced student-athletes, with 19 members of the 2018 roster returning, including 10 seniors.
• Among the returning seniors are last season's leading goal scorers: Ally Reynolds with nine points on four goals and an assist, Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) with eight points on three goals, two assists, and Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) who tallied three straight game-winning goals late in the season, along with an assist for seven points on the season.
• Other key returners for the Wildcats include senior back and team captain Caitlyn Keenan who appeared in 12 of UNH's 18 games, coming back from a nose injury early in the season, and junior captain Casey Peterson (Clifton, Va.). The midfield/forward combo tallied a four-point game against Rhode Island with a goal and two assists.
• All-Conference Second-Teamer Megan Rumbold tallied a late game-tying goal against Northeastern last season, and was a consistent member of the UNH backline, starting all 18 games.
• Also joining Rumbold from last year's backline are senior captain Maddie Murdick (Burlington, Conn.), along with fellow seniors Caroline Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.) and Caitlyn Keenan.
A New Face In Net
• Sophomore goalkeeper Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) got her first career start when UNH faced the Rhode Island Rams in its season opener. Sheppard did not face a shot on target in the first half, but stopped all five in the second half to repel the URI attack.
• Sheppard posted her first clean sheet against Sacred Heart in the second game of the season, stopping both SHU shots on goal in the 3-0 victory.
• So far in her first four starts Sheppard sits at a .842 save% and a 0.75 GAA, stopping 16 of 19 opposing shots on target.
Wiley Runs Wild
• Freshman midfield/forward Whitney Wiley was named the America East Rookie of the Week for the first week of the regular season. Wiley tallied two goals against Sacred Heart, including the game winner, as she beat the defense into the 18-yard box and collected two perfect through-balls from senior Ally Reynolds. Wiley has a team-high three goals on the season.
Making History
• Senior Kaylan Williams tallied an assist on every goal in the victory against Sacred Heart, with two secondary assists and a primary give-and-go assist to Shayna Salis. The program record for assists in a single game is three, originally set by Ellen Weinberg in 1987 and 1989. Williams is now the eighth Wildcat tied for that record.
Scouting Marist
• The Red Foxes (Poughkeepsie, NY.) started their season off with a 2-1-0 record by defeating Towson and Delaware State, but losing to Drexel.
• Marist's defense has been off to an impressive start, with clean sheets in both of their wins.
• Victoria Colatosti leads the Red Foxes with three goals and one assist in three games played.
• In net, Abigail Renaud has made 14 saves while allowing only three goals for a .824 save percentage and 1.05 GAA.
• Their trip to Durham marks the end of the Red Foxes' season-opening four-game road trip.

• The Eagles (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) have been off to a hot start, claiming a 4-0-0 record with their 2-1 win on Sunday against Princeton.
• Boston College has allowed no more than one goal per game this season and have one shutout on the year.
• In total, the Eagles have outscored opponents 11-3 this season, and are receiving votes in the top 25 poll.
• Their leading scorer, Sam Smith, has four goals on the season on only five shots on goal.
• Their top goalkeeper, Allie Augur, has allowed only two goals while saving seven shots.
• The Eagles face Northeastern on Thursday night ahead of their meeting with UNH on Sunday.
