Women’s Soccer Heads to Vermont for the TD Bank Classic (Sept. 4; 1:30 p.m. | Sept. 6; 11 a.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team travels to the University of Vermont for the TD Bank Classic, to compete against Quinnipiac University on Friday, Sept. 4 (1:30 p.m.) and Kent State University on Sunday, Sept. 6 (11 a.m.) at Virtue Field.
LAST TIME OUT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats most recently suffered their first loss of the season at Siena College (Aug. 30). The Saints defeated the Wildcats, 2-0, which snapped the team's shutout streak at three games. Sophomore forward Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.), recently named America East Player of the Week, led the offensive effort with four shots on net. Junior goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) had her scoreless streak broken at 350 minutes, 23 seconds. The tri-captain made six saves on the afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT FOR QUINNIPIAC
Quinnipiac most recently traveled to Delaware State (Aug. 28) where they picked up a 2-0 victory. Both Bobcats' goals came late in the second half, about eight minutes apart. Freshman Nadya Gill and senior Jessica Jankowski registered the goals, while senior goalkeeper Natalia Grodzki earned the shutout with two saves.
LAST TIME OUT FOR KENT STATE
Kent State most recently battled Louisville (Aug. 28) to a 2-2 draw in double overtime. Sophomore Kristen Brots and junior Jenna Hellstrom each tallied a goal in the team's effort. Goalkeeper Katie Kingsbury played all 110 minutes in net and registered seven saves on the evening.
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
This is the first time UNH has played both Kent State and Quinnipiac.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
The Bobcats enter the match with a 2-0 record on the season. Forward Gill, recently named Mid-American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, leads the team with two goals. Goalkeeper Grodzki has played all 187:46 minutes for the Bobcats and enters the weekend with a save percentage of .889.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
The Golden Flashes head into the TD Bank Classic with a 1-1-1 record. Hellstrom leads the team with nine points (three goals, three assists) through the first three games. Kingsbury and freshman Ashleah McDonald have each compiled 10 saves apiece while splitting time in goal.
AMERICA EAST LEADERS (As of Sept. 2)
New Hampshire has registered 22 saves this season, tied for the conference lead. Additionally, the Wildcats are tied for the league lead with three shutouts.
Forward Murphy has launched 17 shots thus far to pace the conference and Borkan is tied for first place in saves (22) and shutouts (3).
GOOSE EGGS
The 'Cats began the season with three shutouts, the first time in program history, led by goalkeeper Borkan. Last season, the Massachusetts Native put together a three-game shutout streak during a 1-0 win at Binghamton University (Oct. 19), a 2-0 victory at UMass Lowell (Oct. 23) and a 1-0 final score against Stony Brook University (Oct. 26). She tied the program record for shutouts in a season with nine last year. The shutout streak ended this season Aug. 30 after lasting 350 minutes, 23 seconds. The program record for the longest shutout streak stood at 380 minutes in 2002.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
The Wildcats have used the same starting lineup all four games this season. Murphy, Borkan, seniors Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.), Gabrielle Sloan (Stow, Mass.), Morgan Smith (Canton, Conn.), Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.), junior Lilly Radack (Madbury, N.H.), sophomores Kendra Prince (Ajax, Ontario), Veronica Hardy (North Smithfield, R.I.), Jackie Feraco (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Sydney Griffin (Hinsdale, Ill.) round out the starting eleven.
DUE NEXT
The Wildcats return home to face Temple University on Sept. 11 (7 p.m.) to stay unbeaten on Bremner Field.
