Women’s Soccer Dropped 2-1 by Harvard in Overtime

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Gabrielle Sloan (Stow, Mass.) scored a second-half equalizer, as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to Harvard University, Thursday night at Jordan Field .
The Wildcats' record fell to 2-4-3 overall as the Crimson's record improved to 2-4-1.
Following a first-half goal by the Crimson's Margaret Purce, Sloan recorded her second goal of the season, fourth career tally, in the second half (66th minute). Sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) recorded an assist on the play where the ball was placed in the top left of the net to even the score even at 1-1.
Sloan totaled three shots on the night to lead the team. Murphy, senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) and freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) all tallied two shots in the game. Junior Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) made six saves including five in the second half to help send it to overtime.
Harvard was led by Purce, who totaled seven shots throughout the match. Joan Fleischman recorded four shots to finish second on the team. Goaltender Lizzie Durack had a quiet night in net with one save.
In the 92nd minute, Rachel Garcia ripped a shot over Borkan to give the Crimson the overtime win, and the 'Cats third straight loss.
New Hampshire returns home Sunday, Sept. 17 (2 p.m.) to close out non-conference play with Northeastern University in town.
