Morgan Thatcher, a 2014 gradute from the University of New Hampshire, joined the volleyball staff as an assistant coach in July 2015.
Thatcher, a three-time America East All-Conference standout, led UNH to capture an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning the 2013 America East Championship with a 20-12 overall record and 12-2 in league play. UNH went on to compete at sixth-ranked University of Southern California in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She became the seventh player in UNH volleyball history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau, finishing her collegiate career fifth on the all-time leaderboard with 1,168 terminations. Thatcher also finished sixth in program history, tallying 2,987 attack attempts. In the classroom, the Brockton, Mass. native made the America East Academic Honor Roll three times.
At Stonehill, Thatcher helped the squad claim a share of the program's first regular season conference championship with a 21-8 overall record and 11-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Skyhawks merited an NCAA Tournament bid after reaching the semifinals of the league tournament.
While at UNH, Thatcher gained experience in the coaching arena with NH Seacoast Juniors Volleyball, one of the premier volleyball clubs in New England. Thatcher coached a variety of age groups, including a U16 Elite team that was the top-ranked squad in New England and earned a bid to Nationals. In addition, she served as a counselor at various volleyball camps across New England, such as the UConn Elite Camp, Cape Cod Elite Camp, Mass Premier Camp and Olympian Pat Powers' Volleyball Clinics.
Off the court, Thatcher was an active member in the community during her time at UNH. A member of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for three of her four years as a Wildcat, she served as co-chair for the UNH Athlete Holiday Fundraiser, Toys for Tots and helped with other fundraisers, such as Soles 4 Souls. Thatcher was active in other charitable initiatives throughout her time at UNH, including traveling to New Orleans to take part in reconstruction efforts from Hurricane Katrina.
The former 6-foot-2 right side hitter graduated from UNH with a degree in Physical Education in 2014. She went on to earn a master's degree from UNH in Kinesiology: Sport Studies in 2017.
