Martelleur Wins Points Title, Six 'Cats Earn All-East Honors

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) captured the EISA overall points title, leading a group of six University of New Hampshire skiers who earned All-East honors.
Martelleur ranked first in the East with 340 points, highlighted by slalom victories at the Saint Lawrence and Saint Michael's Carnivals. She opened the season with a third-place tie in the GS at Bates, followed by a second-place slalom finish, earning EISA Alpine Skier of the Week on Jan. 12. She also placed third at the Middlebury Carnival.
Freshman Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario), graduate student Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario), senior Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.), junior Isac Hedstrom (Åre, Sweden), and freshman Clara Hegan (Ottawa, Ontario) joined Martelleur on the All-East teams. Buckrell, Martelleur, and Lyons made the First Team, while Anderson, Hedstrom, and Hegan earned Second Team recognition.
Buckrell, who ranked fourth overall in the East, was also named EISA Alpine Rookie of the Year. He secured three podium finishes in the slalom, winning at the EISA Championships/NCAA East Regionals, placing second at the Middlebury Carnival, and finishing third at the Saint Michael's Carnival. He was named EISA Alpine Skier of the Week on Feb. 3.
Lyons, who ranked fifth, capped the season with a runner-up finish in the 20K freestyle at the EISA Championships/NCAA East Regionals. She secured three podium finishes overall, including third-place results in the 20K skate at the Dartmouth Carnival and the sprint at the Middlebury Carnival.
Hegan, who ranked seventh overall among Nordic women, was named Rookie of the Year. She earned second-place finishes in the 7.5K skate at both the St. Lawrence Carnival and the Bates Carnival.
Anderson recorded a third-place finish in the 7.5K classic at the Dartmouth Carnival and placed sixth in the 7.5K freestyle at the EISA Championships/NCAA East Regionals. He ranked seventh overall in the East.
Hedstrom, ranked 10th in the East, earned a podium finish in the season opener at Bates, placing second in the GS. He also placed fourth in the men's giant slalom at the Saint Lawrence Carnival and finished eighth in the slalom at the same competition.
