The Wildcats are riding the momentum of a big 3-2 win over #5 Binghamton at home in Wildcat Stadium, advancing the 'Cats to the semifinal round of the America East tournament for the third time in four years.
Last Time Out
• New Hampshire hosted its third home playoff game in the last four years when the Wildcats hosted the Binghamton Bearcats in the quarterfinal round. New Hampshire struck first in the 28th minute on a beautiful tic-tac-toe play from Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) into the middle of the box to Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) who dropped it back to Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) who hit a one-timer to the bottom left of the net.
• Binghamton would equalize in the 36th minute, and Reynolds would answer with a goal of her own in the 57th minute; a pass from Williams through the Binghamton back line left Reynolds alone one-on-one with the keeper which she won, putting the ball in to the lower left corner of the net.
• The eventual game-winning goal came from sophomore Julie Cane (Titusville, N.J.), her first career goal, on another breakway play from the Wildcats. Belle Pesante (Wakefield, R.I.) got a similar through-ball and had a one-on-one with the keeper but her shot bounced off the legs of the opposing goalie. A long rebound found a charging Cane just outside the 18 and the defense couldn't reposition for the second attempt, as it sailed through the gap in the defense for a 3-1 lead.
• Binghamton tallied a goal in the 85th to try and climb back but New Hampshire was able to keep Binghamton out of the UNH defensive zone for the final four minutes.
