HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New Hampshire applied pressure through the opening minutes of the game; the Wildcats tallied seven total shots in the first 20 minutes, six on target, and two corner kicks.
- The Wildcats struck first in the 28th minute on a tic-tac-toe play where Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) dribbled down the right sideline into the 18 yard box; she sent a ball into the middle to Reynolds, who settled and dropped the ball back to Williams who fired one to the lower left side for her fifth goal of the season.
- Binghamton would answer back in the 37th minute on a similar style of play; Binghamton's Piantadosi tipped a cross through the middle of the box to Corda who flicked the ball into the air. An awaiting Olivia McKnight hit a one-timer in the air and bounced the ball in off the crossbar to tie the game at 1-1.
- After Binghamton brought the pressure back at the end of the first half and start of the second, New Hampshire got a breakaway opportunity from midfield; Kaylan Williams settled a ball and sent it up-field for a rushing Ally Reynolds who found herself with only the goalie to beat. She drew the keeper out from the goalmouth and snuck one to the lower left corner to give UNH the 2-1 lead.
- With the Binghamton back line pushing up, New Hampshire got a through ball to Belle Pesante (Wakefield, R.I.) who picked up the ball in stride and had a one-on-one with the keeper. Her initial shot was saved but a long rebound to the outside of the 18 found Julie Cane who was rushing in on the play and sent the ball in on a one-timer before anyone on the defense could get in a good enough position to prevent the third goal.
- Binghamton showed signs of life in the final 10 minutes with a goal from Erin Theiller in the 85th minute; a ball sent into the middle was headed into the box by McKnight and Theiller redirected it lower left side to cut the lead to 1-0.
- New Hampshire sent the ball deep into Binghamton territory and a series of throw-ins down the left sideline for the Bearcats ended with a UNH throw in with 5 seconds left, sealing the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- New Hampshire outshot Binghamton overall 17-12, 10-5 in shots on goal; Binghamton held the shot advantage in the second with seven shots to four.
- Binghamton's goal in the first half came off a short corner kick; the Bearcats were held to zero corner kick opportunities in the second half.
- Ally Reynolds and Kaylan Williams both had a game-high three points along with Binghamton's Olivia McKnight.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- New Hampshire had been shut out in its last three America East playoff meetings, 1-0.
- Three goals is the most the Wildcats have scored in an America East playoff game since the 2014 Championship game when they defeated the Hartford Hawks, 3-1.
- The Wildcats have now made the semifinal round of the America East tournament three of the last four seasons. (2016, 2017, 2019)
- Ally Reynolds now leads the team with nine goals and 22 points on the season; Kaylan Williams is now second with five goals and 16 points.
