HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first 10 minutes of the game saw two UMass Lowell corners and several scoring opportunities for the River Hawks, but the Wildcats were able to clear each opportunity.
- The Wildcats worked their way down the field several times to start the game but were never able to make plays off of it.
- A dangerous cross by Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) in the 16th minute got into the box and was punched away by UMass Lowell keeper Schneider. The ensuing corner was cleared out of the box.
- Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) on the ensuing play had an opportunity in the box to head the ball in but her deflection went just high.
- The Wildcats once again got the ball back inside the 18 on the very next sequence and Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) got a good shot on net that forced Schneider to dive but she was able to recover from her own rebound and gather the ball before another shot could be taken by UNH.
- In the 22nd minute, a UMass Lowell forward tried to head a ball past a charging Mia Neas but her header bounced wide.
- Through 30 minutes both teams controlled the ball evenly, but the Wildcats were able to keep the pressure on for most of the remainder of the half, outshooting UMass Lowell 3-0 in shots on goal.
- The River Hawks came out in the second half much like they did the first; a long shot by UML's Kristina Bartsch in the 51st minute tried to beat Neas in the lower left corner but she was able to dive and snag the shot.
- Lowell continued the pressure for most of the start of the second half; the Wildcats didn't tally a shot on goal in the second until the 64th minute. Liz Lane was able to create space just outside the 18 and send a low, hard shot on net but it was bobbled and gathered by a diving Schneider.
- A short corner by Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) in the 85th minute was a give-and-go play back to herself; she shot a low ball through traffic but Schneider was able to find the ball through the crowd in time and made the save.
- A high UML shot in the 93rd minute rung off the crossbar, past the hands of Neas. The ball hung in the air and looked to be anyone's ball but Neas was able to snag it out of danger.
- Ally Reynolds tried the same shot just a minute later, but it sailed just over the crossbar.
- UML's Rachel Morrier tried a rocket from the top of the 18 in the 96th, but Neas adjusted and stopped the shot easily.
- The Wildcats were able to apply pressure in the second overtime but were unable to put a shot on net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Wildcats held the River Hawks without a shot on goal the entire first half. UML tallied all seven of their shots on goal in the second half and extra periods.
- UMass Lowell outshot New Hampshire 22-12 overall but only 7-6 in shots on goal.
- Both teams had has many shots on goal as they had fouls. UNH committed the only foul in overtime.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- For the second straight season, UNH and UML play to a scoreless draw. Their matchup last season was on October 19th, and was the Wildcats' first tie of the season.
- This is Mia Neas' third shut out of the season; of all her shutouts, she made more saves than her previous two combined (7). It's the ninth shut out of her career.
- UNH improves its road record to 3-1-2.
