GAME RECAP
- Northeastern controlled play in the first period and finally broke through to take a 1-0 lead at 18:35 when Mueller's hard shot from the slot went under the crossbar.
- With just under eight minutes remaining in the second period, UNH's Paige Rynne (Ancaster, Ontario) fired a one-timer from the low slot, but Bugalski slid to the top of the crease to absorb the puck.
- Fontaine finished a feed from Aurard at 17:14 of the middle frame to extend the advantage to 2-0.
- The Wildcats, who started building momentum in the second period, increased pressure in the final stanza.
- With a little more than seven minutes on the clock, Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) ripped a shot from the top of the left circle that eluded Bugalski and rang off the pipe.
- UNH trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at 14:18 on Wenczkowski's second goal of the season, which was set up by Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
- The 'Cats pressured in the 18th minute, but Bugalski turned aside shots by Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) and Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.).
- New Hampshire called a timeout at 18:38 and, eight seconds later, Smith skated to the bench for an extra skater.
- UNH was unable to record a shot the rest of the way, however.
- Veronika Pettey, positioned at the top of the crease, slipped Aurard's centering pass into the empty net with one second remaining.
