Women's Hockey Falls to Holy Cross in Hockey East Quarterfinals

Callista Printz had a career-high four points in the loss.
WORCESTER, Mass. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey fell late to Holy Cross (19-12-3, 10-11-3 HEA) on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 28) at the Hart Center, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Crusaders.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-New Hampshire broke open the scoring in the closing minutes of the first period, when Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) found Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) in the neutral zone with a pass, before the captain skated into the high slot, firing on net and beating Abby Hornung high blocker-side for the 1-0 lead. Callista Printz (Buffalo, N.Y.) earned the secondary assist on the go-ahead score.
-Holy Cross found the equalizer just 3:29 into the second frame, when Charlotte Sonntag finished on a one-timer feed in the slot.
-The Crusaders got their first lead of the game just under five minutes later when Lulu Rourke fired on net from a close angle, before watching the puck as it bobbled in the air, landing in the cage and giving Holy Cross the 2-1 edge.
-With 2:35 to play in the middle period and the 'Cats on the power-play, Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) fired on net, connecting with the skate of Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario) before finding the back of the goal to tie things up at 2-2.
-Holy Cross regained their one-goal edge just 1:32 into the third period, when Reghan Chadwick fired on net, beating Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) on the power-play to make it a 3-2 contest.
-The Crusaders extended their lead 3:15 later, when Sonntag fired on net from a tight angle, beating Martinez and putting Holy Cross up 4-2.
-Holy Cross found their third of the period with 8:08 to play when Alexia Moreau tipped the puck in at the post, making it a 5-2 contest.
-The Wildcats got one back with 3:22 to play, when Danika Botterill (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) fed Kristen Hartman (Newmarket, Ontario) in front, who netted the puck to pull it within a pair of goals.
-UNH cut the lead to a single goal with 1:27 left in the game when Callista Printz fired on net from the blue line, bringing about the final 5-4 score.
