DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was edged 2-1 by Northeastern University (17-6-0, 13-1-0 HEA) on Saturday evening (Jan. 17) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Northeastern broke open the scoring late in the first period, when Eloïse Caron put away a bobbling puck in the slot to give the Huskies the 1-0 advantage with 18.4 seconds to play.
-New Hampshire broke onto the scoreboard late in the second period, when Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario) put away a loose puck off a Danika Botterill (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) try on the five-on-three advantage, tying the affair at 1-1.
-The Huskies retook the lead 1:11 later, when Jaden Bogden won the puck in the Northeastern zone, before skating two-on-one with Caron, connecting with her for the one-time score and making it 2-1.
-Neither team cracked the scoreboard in the final 20 minutes, giving Northeastern the 2-1 win.

-On special teams, the Wildcats went one-for-seven on the power-play, striking on Hush's five-on-three score.
-On defense, nine different players landed a block, paced by Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) and Botterill with two apiece.
-In net, Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) closed her night in net denying 29-of-31 shots faced, good for a .935 save percentage.
