Fogarty Scores 17 in 'Cat Setback vs. La Salle

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team in both categories, but the Wildcats dropped a 59-51 game to La Salle in the first round of the 20th annual Christmas City Classic at Lehigh University on Saturday.
UNH had its win streak snapped at three games and is now 3-2. The Wildcats play Fairfield University in the consolation game of the tournament Sunday at 2 p.m.
La Salle, which plays in the Atlantic 10, is 2-3 and advances to play Lehigh in the championship game at 4:30 Sunday. Lehigh beat Fairfield, 56-53, in the first game of the tournament Saturday.
Fogarty made six of her 11 field goal attempts and four of her six foul shots.

UNH's next home game is Wednesday, Nov. 29 vs. Colby-Sawyer at 5 p.m. The Wildcats face Northeastern at home on Friday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.
After that, they have two other nonconference home games remaining before New Year's. Manhattan College comes to town for a game Saturday, Dec. 9 and Cornell is in for a game on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
Fogarty hit double figures in points for the fourth time in five games this season. She was just under her season highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds in the team's opener at Xavier.
Senior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) joined Fogarty in double figures with 15 points and also had three rebounds and three assists. Lai made all four of her foul shots.
Senior guard Peyton Booth (Wadsworth, Ohio) made both of her three-pointers for six points and added three rebounds off the bench. The Wildcats outscored La Salle in bench points, 10-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
La Salle led 15-6 after one period. The Wildcats battled back and with an 18-9 edge in the second period tied it 24-24 at the half.
Booth spurred a charge late in the half with her back-to-back three-pointers with just over a minute to go before the break.
La Salle was up 39-37 going into the fourth quarter. Fogarty made it a two-point game again with a foul shot for 46-44 with 5:50 left, but La Salle was able to open it up a bit from there.
