Wildcats Fall to UAlbany on Senior Day

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team dropped its final home game of the season, falling 67-49 to UAlbany on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gym.
Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) led the way with 17 points, marking her 24th game of the season in double figures.
The Wildcats drop to 10-18 on the season (4-11 America East), while the Great Danes improve to 22-5 (12-2).

- UNH will play its final regular season game on the road against Maine on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.

- UAlbany took an early 8-6 lead at the media timeout with 4:59 left in the opening frame. Sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) and senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) knocked down 3-pointers for the 'Cats.
- The Great Danes utilized a 9-0 run out of the timeout to push their lead to 17-6 at the 2:37 mark.
- DeChent ended the run with a strong take to the hoop for two plus a foul with two seconds left. She missed the free throw, but freshman guard Elizabeth Lavoie (Derry, N.H.) got the offensive rebound and made a mid-range jumper at the buzzer to cut the deficit to seven (17-10) at the end of one.

- UAlbany opened the second quarter with five quick points (22-10), prompting a UNH timeout with 9:19 to go in the half.
- The Great Danes extended the run to 9-0, before Lavoie ended it with a corner three (26-13) at 6:59.
- Turnovers and missed shots at the rim hindered the Wildcats from building any real momentum, with UAlbany taking a 37-19 lead at halftime.

- UAlbany increased its advantage to 25 (45-20) at the media timeout with 4:55 to go in the third.
- The 'Cats cut the deficit to 19 (52-33) heading into the final quarter of play.

- UAlbany stayed in control to secure the 67-49 win.
