DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to Vermont, 55-46, on Thursday evening at Lundholm Gym.

Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) led the way with 16 points, marking her 21st game scoring in double figures.

The Wildcats fall to 8-17 on the season (2-10 America East), while the Catamounts improve to 14-11 (9-2).

first quarter

The 'Cats started strong with a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game.
Vermont responded quickly, going on a 9-0 run in the next four minutes.
The Catamounts kept the scoring going with an 8-3 run in the final five minutes of the first quarter.

second quarter

Vermont increased its lead to 11 (21-10) at the media timeout with 5:11 to go in the half.
The Catamounts led 25-16 going into the break at halftime.

third quarter

UNH kept the game within reach, scoring back and forth with Vermont, highlighted by a 3-pointer from DeChent and an and-1 from graduate student guard Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.).
The 'Cats charged back with 3-pointers from DeChent and senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain), making it a three-point game as UVM called a timeout with 2:40 to go in the quarter.
Vermont ended the third quarter on a 6-0 run to take a nine-point lead going into the fourth.

fourth quarter

The teams traded baskets to open the fourth, highlighted by another 3-pointer from DeChent followed by a layup from senior forward Belen Morales Lopez (Alicante, Spain) to cut the lead to six points.
Vermont got the lead back to double digits (49-39) at the media timeout with 4:17 left in the game.
The 'Cats tried to fight back but the Catamounts wouldn't relinquish their lead, winning 55-46.
