'Cats Earn Gritty Overtime Win Over UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated UMass Lowell in a hard-fought overtime battle, 62-55, on Saturday afternoon at Costello Athletic Center.
Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.), who scored a game-high 19 points, dealt with foul trouble early but scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the Wildcats. She also recorded five rebounds, tied her career high with two blocks, and set a new career high with five steals.
Sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) added 16 points, five rebounds, two steals and a clutch 3-pointer in overtime to seal the win. Senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) contributed seven points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in 45 minutes of action. Graduate student guard Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.) was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats improve to 9-17 on the season (3-10 America East), while the River Hawks drop to 3-21 (1-11).
