ALBANY, N.Y. – The eighth-seeded University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was defeated by top-seeded UAlbany, 66-44, in the 2025 Jersey Mike's America East Playoffs quarterfinal on Thursday evening.

Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with 15 points, three rebounds, two steals, and a block. Senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) added eight points, four rebounds, and three steals, while senior forward Belen Morales Lopez (Alicante, Spain) contributed eight points and seven rebounds.

The Wildcats finish the season at 10-20, marking their highest win total since 2019-20. The Great Danes improve to 25-5 and advance to the semifinals.

first quarter

UNH jumped out to a 9-4 lead at the first media timeout (4:25) as senior forward Morales Lopez scored six early points.
The Great Danes responded with a 9-0 run to end the quarter, taking a 13-9 lead.

second quarter

UAlbany extended its lead to 26-12 at the 3:49 mark.
DeChent knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers, cutting the deficit to 28-18 with 2:35 to go in the half.
Freshman guard Elizabeth Lavoie (Derry, N.H.) made her second 3-pointer of the game to pull the 'Cats within seven (28-21), but the Great Danes answered with a 3-pointer to take a 31-21 lead at the half.

third quarter

Sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) opened the second half with a 3-pointer, followed by a Gomez jumper to make it 31-26 at the 8:54 mark.
UAlbany pushed its lead back to 12 (39-27) with 5:15 to go in the frame.
The Wildcats responded with a 7-0 run, closing the gap to 39-34 with 1:07 remaining.
Gomez converted a driving layup to close the quarter, making it 42-36 heading into the fourth.

fourth quarter

UAlbany opened the final frame on a 15-2 run, extending its lead to 57-38 with 5:52 left in the game.
The Great Danes stayed in control the rest of the way, securing the 66-44 victory.
