BALTIMORE, M.D. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team dropped its fourth straight America East contest, falling 51-32 to UMBC on Thursday evening.

Senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) led the 'Cats with 12 points and 11 rebounds, notching her second career double-double.

The Wildcats fall to 8-15 on the season (2-8 America East), while the Retrievers improve to 11-10 (4-5).

first quarter

Gomez scored UNH's first basket off an assist from senior guard Kenzie Matulonis (Raynham, Mass.) at 9:33.
UMBC responded with a 15-0 run, including three 3-pointers from Jordon Lewis.
Gomez ended an eight-minute scoring drought with a layup, as the Wildcats trailed 15-4 after one.

second quarter

The teams traded buckets to open the second quarter, with the Retrievers leading 22-13 at the media timeout (3:51).
UNH held UMBC scoreless for the final 4:50 of the half, cutting the deficit to 22-15 at the break. Gomez paced the 'Cats with eight points and eight rebounds.

third quarter

Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) scored her first basket of the game off a Matulonis assist at the 7:03 mark, making it 24-17.
UMBC answered with an 11-0 run, extending the lead to 35-17 and prompting a UNH timeout with 2:55 remaining in the quarter.
A layup from junior forward Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain) ended the run as the Wildcats trailed 35-19 at the end of the third.

fourth quarter

UNH utilized a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to single digits (37-28) with 3:59 remaining.
UMBC countered with a 14-4 surge, closing the game on a 9-0 run to seal the 51-32 victory.
