Men’s Soccer Resumes Conference Play against Stony Brook at Home (Sat., 7 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will return home as it hosts Stony Brook University Saturday night at 7 p.m. on Bremner Field. Links to live stats and video are available on www.UNHWildcats.com.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: New Hampshire (7-1-2, 1-0-0 AE) suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night at Harvard University by a score of 1-0. After a scoreless first half, the Crimson took the lead in the 55th minute of play on a goal off a cross ball into the box. Senior keeper Ryan Carpenter (Newmarket, N.H.) made four saves in the match on five that he faced. Freshman Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) led all players with five shots.
Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) leads the Wildcats in scoring with 10 points from four goals and two assists. Senior Ben Ramin (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) is behind him with seven points from three goals and one assist. Senior A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.) has six points on three goals while classmates Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) and Connor Pauley (Londonderry, N.H.) each have two goals and two assists for six points. Arling has the same total on a goal and four assists. Junior Karl Frisk (Molndal, Sweden) splits his three points on a goal and an assist while junior Riley Ellis (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) each have two points on a goal. Senior Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) has a pair of points on two assists while junior Duff Thomson (Newton, N.H.) has one assist.
Carpenter has started all nine games he has played and has a record of 6-1-2 with three shutouts. He has a goals against average of 0.85 and a save percentage of .692. Sophomore Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) started the other game for UNH and has a 1-0-0 record with a shutout.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK: The Seawolves visit Bremner Field on Saturday night with a 4-4-2 overall record this season and 1-0-0 in America East play. Stony Brook has struggled away from home this season, posting a 1-3-0 record on the road. The team has proven to be much stronger at home thus far as it has recorded a 3-1-2 record at Stony Brook. The team enters its matchup against UNH after winning its second straight game, a 2-1 victory in double overtime against the University at Albany on Oct. 3.
Martin Giordano leads the Seawolves with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Vince Erdel has 10 points on four goals and two assists while Alejandro Fritz has five assists for five points.
Keeper Jason Orban has started all 10 games for SBU and comes in with a record of 4-4-2 with two shutouts. He has a goals against average of 1.30 and a save percentage of .736.
PLAYING FOR A CAUSE: On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Wildcats host Binghamton University on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The team will be sporting pink socks for the entire month of October and are encouraging fans to wear as much pink as they can!
