Women’s Soccer Tied for First Place in AE Preseason Poll

Maddie Kolb and Abbi Maier earn Preseason All-Conference accolades
BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team is tied for first in the 2025 America East Preseason Poll as voted on by the conference's head coaches, while senior defender Maddie Kolb (Toland, Conn.) and senior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) were selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
UNH totaled 55 points and received two first place votes, while Binghamton also earned 55 points and two first place votes.
Defending conference champion Maine was picked to finish third (52 points, four first place votes), followed by UMass Lowell (46 points, one first place vote), Vermont (39 points), Bryant (25 points), NJIT (22 points), UAlbany (19 points) and UMBC (11 points).
Kolb was named Preseason All-Conference after being selected as Defender of the Year in 2024 and garnering 2024 First Team All-Conference honors as well as United Soccer Coaches Division I All-Atlantic Region Third Team accolades. She was also selected to the 2022 America East All-Rookie Team.
Maier had a strong 2024 season as she tied for second on the team with four goals and added an assist for nine points. She is a two-time member of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and was selected to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2022. Maier has nine goals and four assists for 22 career points.
The Wildcats have posted a program record three straight winning seasons and have advanced to the America East title game three out of the last four years. The team went 12-5-1 last year as the 12 wins tied the school record and UNH advanced to the America East title game. The 'Cats will be looking to win their third America East tournament title having captured the championship in 2014 and 2022.
The Wildcats will open the 2025 season at Boston University on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m., followed by the home opener at Wildcat Stadium versus Stonehill on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.
