Women's Soccer Hosts Annual Banquet and Distributes Team Awards

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer program held their annual end of season banquet this past weekend (April 28). The Class of 2024 was recognized alongside one graduate student and Head Coach Steve Welham handed out team awards.
This past season was highlighted by two student athletes receiving major conference end of season awards. Senior back Alivia Kelly (Pembroke, Mass.) was named America East Defensive Player of the Year and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Sally Rainey (West Lebanon, N.H.) was honored as Goalkeeper of the Year. Kelly was the first player in UNH women's soccer history to receive the honor.

Barros Family Award: Ande Allison and Anna Hewlett
The 2023 season was the second consecutive winning season and the Wildcats have now qualified for the America East Playoffs 10 straight seasons. In those ten seasons, eight of them have been the team winning the America East Championship or the team losing to the eventual Champion. The 'Cats also tied the second longest unbeaten run-in program history with seven games.
The defense held strong throughout the season recording the fewest goals conceded in UNH program history with 13 since the inception in 1985. The 'Cats also tied for the most shutouts in program history with nine. In conference, the team only recorded one loss.
The team's cumulative GPA for the Fall 2023 semester was a 3.41.
